I wish he pointed that header anywhere else in the goal today but we can let him off. We are contributing all over the pitch now

Just wanted to bump this in tribute to how good Wood's finish was last night. First time, on his weaker foot, right into the one place that Alisson couldn't stop it.

For someone who's had the reputation of being a bit of a lump he's scored some tremendous goals for us. The second and third of his hattrick away at Newcastle last season, his first away at Leicester and the dink over Pickford at Everton were all top-rate finishes.

Yep, he's totally underrated by Prem pundits, and so also the fans. I suspect it's because he played in Dyche's Burnley team for so long.

He did have a pretty rough spell at Newcastle before he came to us. I know a few Newcastle fans and the shock when he scored that hattrick last year.

Obviously just need some confidence and the right team to get him going!

Well done Woody and I agree with EM’s comments, thoroughly deserved.

I don’t expect him to still be our starting striker in 2 years or at least I hope not and Im sure he doesn’t expect to be himself. But a great option to have and hopefully a fantastic mentor for someone younger.

I think the way he carries himself and the way I've loved him proving me wrong 10 minutes after every time I've slagged him off in the ground he might be my fave player of all time.

Get him started on his coaching badges in his final year and keep him at the club when he does have to retire. What a coach to have working for the Academy!!

It's funny I thought he'd be a great signing, then he struggled in that first 6 months and I completely gave up on him. Then he proved me wrong for giving up on him!

Great player and will be an asset even if he ends up not starting every week in the future.

A lot has been made of his age, but no reason he can't go on past the 2 years. I'm delighted we have extended his contract.
