Even so, I'd prefer to pay them for Worrall rather than pay to bring another player in on loan, to cover our player out on loan!

Had a lot of respect for AK but thought he made a mistake sending Worrall out.

Keeping Yates but not Worrall was odd.  Worrall was playing with weaker players around him.  Played a lot of games in a short period of time.

He'd made mistakes but showed promise and passion.  Relying on 3 senior CHs with a history of injuries  for mid week sat schedule was always going to be a gamble.

This letting Worrall out on loan proved an error in hindsight.

I'm guessing Martin wants to evaluate his squad.

Worrall will love to be back here.  He should have been learning alongside Dawson.

SA.

He let Worral out and then brought in Heff. Now Heff brings a lot to the dressing room I'm sure but from what I've seen of him, he's not as talented as Worrall. And I'm sure that as Worrall matures, he'll be a big voice in the dressing room himself.

It's a pity we didn't get to see him play in AK organised side alongside Fox or Dawson and behind Colback and Yacob. I think he'd be pretty decent.

hope someone proves me wrong, but I think AK got rid of Big Joe because he didn't like him, there was no basic, common sense logic to it, any almost always fit and gives there all and been here since he was 8 and loves the club, and young and wants to improve, it will never make sense to me except it hasn't done the lad any harm, hopefully he has had a bloody good time up there, be really nice if he comes back this week, pretty much the complete player, maybe never world class but a damn good solid young prospect

Aye.  A shame.  Hopefully that can be rectified.  Martin will find Worrall's talent and leadership.

I wasn't sure we had the depth and legs at CH and so it has come to pass.

Need some fresh legs in there. Actual CHs.

Worrall has a solid Premiership future ahead of him. Maybe not Top 6 but deffo a long career in the top flight IMO.
Let's not forget Morgan & Lacaslles. Especially Morgan, who would have predicted League Champion Captain in his future vs Notts County.

Gerrard says staying at Rangers and we missed our deadline.

"I think in the deal they had up until 7 January to call Joe back," Rangers manager Gerrard said.

"We never heard anything, so Joe will stay here for the rest of the season."

Great news, best thing for him.

Supporters of our club tend to put ex-players or players who are out on loan on a pedestal (I'm sure we're not the only fan base that does this), especially when we go through a rough patch like the one we've been in for the last 6-7 weeks. I like Joe, think he'll be a fine no nonsense CB and play at a decent level, mid-low end Premier League, through his prime (hopefully with us) but I don't see that he'd have made a huge difference to us through this current rough spell. I've seen people say he should never have gone on loan because he's the best CB at the club, in my opinion had everyone stayed fit he would have struggled to get in ahead of Figueiredo and Dawson. I understand Karanka didn't like him for whatever reason but if it was purely from a football POV I could understand sending Joe out and getting Hefele in, in hindsight it hasn't worked out but Hefele was/is in his prime and has promotion experience from the Championship, while Joe is still learning and benefits more from being on the pitch as much as possible.

Good post.

The issue for me is that our recruitment at centre back has been poor under Karanka, that’s not just limited to Hefele but also Figuerido and Dawson have not really done enough to warrant bringing them in when you take into account cost.

For me only Robinson has proved value for money and he evidently has a lot of doubters.

Yes, you can make arguments for players in isolation, Tobias isn't bad & has been unfortunate with injuries, & we all know Dawson's qualities, but we all also know his age, and therefore the likely hood of him breaking down, so he's not a bad signing, but only if you have a good, stable defence that can cope with his probable absences, & Hefele we've touched on already, so it's been less about a well thought out bigger picture & building a defence & more about getting bodies through the door.

We've been using the Oliver Twist school of recruitment, please sir, can I have some more.

It's why we also ended up with 72 central midfielders, but are now looking at Andy King, because they were all so similar to each other & nobody bothered to look at variety.

Tis truth.

What do you mean NG3?
Never rated him myself but you’ve got me scratching my head with that comment.

The more I hear/read about AK, the more pathetic as a human I think he is.
