We might also have been better off taking a natural left back who hadn't been injured since February.

Chilwell isn't perfect but at least he was fit and actually plays the position.

Exactly! Some of Southgate’s decision making was frankly baffling.  No natural LB or even someone for that position who can use their left foot has left us unbalanced down that side and Trippier just playing backward or sideways passes. Bellingham for me is another issue. Undoubted talent but is he a 10, 8 or 6? I can’t help but feel Southgate is just letting Bellingham do what he wants but again that is leaving us unbalanced as others are then playing out of position.

Not sure how fit he was exactly but 100% agree with the sentiment. Tyreek Mitchell would've been the obvious candidate for me.

It’s not even like Mitchell hasn’t been capped by Southgate so what was stopping him pouring over every performance of an English LB this season and taking 2 of them that were fit?

There is Joe Gomez too who is in the squad and played many games for Liverpool at left back this season.

Gotta be a better option than Trippier surely.

With Shaw injured what was the point of taking Gomez if Southgate is not going to pick him?

So much this, or gamble on a young lad like Tyrick Mitchell or Rico Henry

So Slovakia it is then.

Sadly I am not very confident to be honest.

Italy were appalling but Switzerland were very well organised. Should England win tomorrow and end up playing them it won't be easy.

Tale of VAR (with Stuart Attwell) in Germany vs. Denmark. Two disallowed goals and now Germany given a penalty which they scored.

VAR is playing by the rules but not by any measure of common sense.

Clive Tylesley in his last game telling us all what he thinks and he is correct, total nonsense decisions going on, ruining the game as a spectacle.
