Nottingham Forest - Manchester City

TBH, I couldnt fault the effort today. We gave the current and potentially next champions a real good go today. We didnt get rolled over by City and showed them sufficient respect without bowing down to them.

I enjoyed todays game. The ref, I think had a very good game and there was no need for VAR to intervene (or not as the case may be!). No bookings or play acting or theatrics which allowed the game to flow.

Their first goal, if Neco was on the pitch, he wouldve been on that near post. I think De Bruyner sees that and plays the perfect cross to exploit that. Their second goal just shows what a class player  De Bruyner is, with that perfect pass to Haarland.

I am concerned with Neco and Murillo both going off injured. If Neco's is his hamstring, thats the last we will see of him this season, which is a shame because he is really coming into his own just lately. I have got to give a big shout out for Aina today. I thought he was immense and really gave 100%.

I think if this game had been played earlier in the season, the majority of us wouldve accepted the result as we gave a really good showing of ourselves today.

They scored both goals with essentially 10 men on the field.  Should have delayed delayed delayed until the subs were ready.  And why weren’t the subs ready???!!!

Murillo was desperate to go off and Nuno was ignoring him.  What the hell was that???!!

Aina and Boly very very good today.

Just be healthy and win at the undead!

100% agree. Came on to say same thing.

Conceded from corner with Neco off injured to be replaced 1min later.
We played brilliantly for 60mind and started to tire. Really needed new energy, and then Murillo was hurt and Nuno was still not making the sub, and then very predictablely they scored, then subs were made.
That said, Nunos tactics were spot on today if we could finish we'd be celebrating a famous win.

Yep absolutely agree about the delay in the subs particularly the 2nd goal. Utterly ridiculous and that on is on Nuno.

However that apart very good performance all round, probably the better team for at least 60 mins but 2nd goal killed it.

Aina excellent
Danilo, showed absolute quality at times but gave the ball away a bit too
Boly very good considering how long he hasn’t played, we’ve missed him
Wood good game but just didn’t have his shooting boots on
Only frustration was CHO was mostly poor and predictable, surprised he wasn’t subbed.

Their first goal was shocking and we had no nous. It was their set piece coach that barked his orders to a sub who ran to de bruyne to go near post. He got a high 5 from pep after. The set up is all wrong for me.
Anyway - we played well today - aina was the best player on the pitch and twice put the after burners on and glided past Walker as if he wasn’t there. Wood had a good game but forgot how to score tap ins, MGW again a revelation in a deeper role- danillo good too. Boly was outstanding - showed what was missing. CHO is starting to really piss me off with his refusal to use his left foot. Elanga and CHO both prefer left side and we have failed to get a right winger all season for the balance.
Was proud of the team though today and thought Man Coty were a bit lucky with the timing of their goals. They are a machine though and bloody big and powerful all over the pitch.

Very good performance, good set-up from Nuno.

Can’t be many sides have beaten Man City on xG this season!

We played well today against a great team but every week it’s the same what if. what if we took our chances. what if we didn’t concede the same set piece goal on the near post from our right side. The Clough team which got relegated had similar issues. Between boxes we played some good stuff but didn’t have a goal scoring centre forward after selling Sheringham and we conceded loads of goals from crosses. They are the basics and if you don’t perform in those areas then you are going to lose football matches. Unfortunately it isn’t like ice dancing where you get points for artistic merit. If it did we would be top half. Murillo is going to be one of the best centre backs around but he gets caught out at that near post every week. I wonder why anothe player doesn’t patrol that area.

Hope I’m wrong

Certainly didn't play like that, did themselves a solid today.

Back three were aggressive, composed and on the whole very solid. Some of the worlds top players were on that pitch today and quite a few of ours looked like they belonged- MGW, danillo, Murillo and aina.

Back three was quite effective, do we go down that route next weekend?!

I dunno - Sheffield have been proper shite but they hate us and will probably play with the Monet off their back.

This is an insane stat. Unfortunately it doesn’t give us any points

@OptaJoe

2 - Nottingham Forest had more shots in both of their Premier League games v Man City this season. They are only the second team to outshoot a Pep Guardiola side both home & away in a season in the Spaniard's top-flight managerial career, after Real Madrid in 2009-10. Seriously.

Just attack them at pace and they crumble.
