Reports on Twitter from an account with 350k followers is claiming we want Maurizio Sarri as manager.

I heard we wanted Sarri BEFORE Nuno and he turned us down.

Hearing rumors suggesting Nottingham Forest approached Maurizio Sarri shortly after his dismissal from Lazio to replace Nuno Espírito Santo as manager.

So what does Nuno do now? How does he turn this around as it doesn't feel like we can just go with the same tactics/team against Fulham. My guess is he sets up like we did in the 2nd half which IMO is a mistake as it leaves us massively exposed.

If I were Nuno, I'd follow the playbook that Cooper used last year. Low block and 433 or 343 and try and stop conceding as many chances. We may have escaped with only one goal conceded yesterday but Palace missed some massive chances, we were lucky. We need to stop conceding chances and hope we can unleash Elanga or someone else on the break.

We haven’t progressed. Results are just as bad and the performance on saturday is probably the worst i have seen at home since we got promoted. Palace had better chances to win the game. You have to ask why? Is it bad luck, poor officiating, Nuno not being very good or the squad not being much better than the position we are in. I think it is a combination of all but most of all the squad not being much better than the position we are in. How many premier league starting 11’s would Worrall Toffolo Yates Turner McKenna Fellipe Danilo and even Sangare get in. Our best players are MGW and Murilo but they are not finished articles and how many top ten sides would they be regular starters in. Staying up last season was a minor miracle. We probably had the weakest squad at the start of the season and by the end I still think relegated teams Leeds and leicester had better squads. Cooper deserved massive credit for those two seasons. We overachieved in both. This season i reckon we have the fourth or fifth worst squad. Compare us to Everton Palace Bournmouth Fulham. They have struggled but have better first 11 players. You can say our recruitment has been poor and point to Sangare Shelvey Dennis Danilo has expensive flops but MGW Murillo Taiwo as succeses. If we stay up Nuno would have done his job albeit I don’t think he is as good as Cooper or will take us much further forward. If we do stay up the competition at the bottom will be better and we would probably start again as favourites for relegation.

How are we measuring progression?

We were in full extra regression when Steve left so let us not forget that.

So how do we know with that regression in mind where we would currently be if Steve had stayed?

At least now the owner, players and staff are talking to eachother and putting a shift in so that in itself is progression.

Yes I know we haven't got the points on the board but these was a huge massive rot setting in during Steves last month in charge and at least that has now been stopped.

Nuno has gone to the simplest system of football 4231. We have no variation or rotation and is light years away from the more progressive sides. It relies on our players doing something individually well to be creative and make a chance. Palace set traps to counter this and should have won but for poor finishing. It’s much like Man Utd - they just have better players but have similar problems. Chelsea too. When you look at Villa - they are so well drilled and make squares all over the pitch so players have 3 options. Other teams bring in fullbacks to hold midfield to create overloads. We have none of that. Of course it comes with time but we are so predictable and easy to defend against. Unis approach started well as we were probably an unknown quantity on our first few matches under him. Will it be enough? It’s the safety net of an easy structure that can be compact and grind out results. I fear it relies on players who are not fit - Taveres for example got us up the pitch and created space for CHO. Awonyi is a miss as he is a danger in behind.
I’d like him to play differently - a box midfield with 2 number 10s could be an option if we can get full backs bombing on and cdm to cover them. 4222. The two number 6 have to be mobile and disciplined though.
I just don’t think he has the bollocks to try anything different.
