i would expect most clubs now have sporting directors etc who recommend players to the manager. clubs like ours that sack managers once a year should defo have people who recommend/buy the players. these players should all fit into the clubs ethos and preffered way of playing. it is then far easier to find a manager who suits the players and system than changing this once a year when the new manager comes in.

Thanks Jock - had assumed this to be a longer term appointment.

Eagle one we have eyes on the target. I'm accessing his files as we speak, he certainly appears to be legit, should I take him out?

:D   Haven't heard those words or similar for a good few years.

Are you ex forces Sniffer?

Well the appointment has been 20 years in the making. Remember talk of being next manager before we hired Platt - how the last two decades could have been different under that scenario. Just goes to remind us all how long we've been gone that then he was an up and coming manager.

Ultimately I wish him luck - he has tasted success at most places - with exception of Sunderland - but who was the last manager to be a success there?

Not who I'd have gone for but his record is decent and would imagine he'll have something to prove after Ireland and especially Sunderland.

Looking back, I didn't want Clark after Clough went.....hope I'm made to look a fool this time too.

Hope Keane comes in too as players will get a shock.

I'd like Keane to join us too, great double acts are very rare.
