What has Niakhate done to warrant starting over Murillo?

I don't get it.

Not against dropping Murillo but I don't believe Niakhate is am improvement either.

Felipe/Boly would interest me, fitness dependant. I'd probably just stick with Murillo tbh, thought he played well yesterday

Argument for Niakhate is to have a more experienced and streetwise leader in defence and preferably someone more commanding in the air. No Im not convinced Niakhate is the answer either, just think Murillo misses a few.

We need to stop leaking goals. We need to stop conceding defensive headers.

Drop Murillo for Niakhate.

We can only put up with the “hes still learning” arguments so long.

Controversial response - could we push Murillo into a CDM role, Niakhate to CD and would this strengthen midfield? Murillo seems comfortable on the ball, can pass and offers more defensive cover if the full backs push on?

Niakhate is the weakest in the air of all our CB’s

Worral is a good as most of our defenders

He's not though, that's why he's playing in Turkey as no-one else wanted him. He was decent enough in a back three but playing in a two he was poor and not up to Premier league standard.

That's why he's barely getting a game in turkey, as he's not even good enough for over there

I understand this it's a difficult argument to win.

He kept a decent number of clean sheets last season though and we are about 1 in 15 now. Maybe 2/3 all season and he started in one of those. Agree not ideal in a 2.

My frustration is built on a bigger issue of how players are treated with such a high turnover which causes instability throughout the squad. Perfect example.

Did we stop leaking goals or conceding defensive headers when Niakhate was in the side?

Personally think theres more to come from Niakhate - he's likely to be with us longer than Murillo in any event

It’s how we are setting up for corners. Really bothering we haven’t changed our approach and we are so flat footed in both defending and attacking set pieces.
