Seen a few suggestions that he is in the frame on social media. It would seem from the responses that I am far from the only one who reckons he would be a backward step and a terrible choice. I do however accept Steve needs some results very very soon. Not that I for a second agree his job should be under threat until the summer.

I heard a while back and unless this constant pressure goes down can see steve saying f**k this and going to palace. It would be a backward step for me. Unless we can get an a grade replacement in I don’t see the point in sacking cooper and I mean a- grade winner….

I will make a prediction now that on 30th of March when we play Palace at home, that Cooper will be in the opposition dug out. I really really hope I am wrong. In that circumstance it will be interesting to see which club is the higher in the league table. Im willing to make a prediction on that point too.

I think Cooper is probably Palace’s succession plan to Hodgson. I also think the big man wants Lopetegui, who has had his agent put out statements about waiting for a Prem job. I must admit that I can’t remember much about his team’s style of play, other than the fact that they’re quite dirty and cynical

It is all too obvious isn’t it. I for one would be extremely disappointed if this indeed is the case. Incidentally, so many neutral fans think he has done an amazing job - they rate him as the best manager outside the top 8. When you consider player churn and the leeway that Chelsea are giving to Poch then you can see their point.
We are trying to play a more expansive team with developing young players. This has led to some disappointing results - Luton and Brighton alongside West Ham. We have our best striker unavailable and have had more injuries than most other teams. We have a cushion to the relegation zone and I think we will get better as more options come back and fitness and connections build. Cooper has me on his side unless we lose the next 5 or 6 on the spin.

That Mail article did reference that there's already been a fan backlash to Lopetegui.

Spurs have lost last 3 on the spin - he is getting leeway due to injuries and suspension - just short sighted. The only way cooper should go is if we get someone box office - mourinho level…

The fan backlash will be aimed squarely at Marinakis if this scenario plays out. Shame because after a difficult start he has won over practically everyone and we all appreciate the investment he has made. I hope it doesn’t happen.

Percy reporting that EM getting miffed that the club is taking too long to appoint a set piece coach.

We are only half way through the evolution
Sacking cooper unpicks all the good things he has done AND the great things EM has done. There would be civil war and the club would implode. However I don’t think the threat is imminent; I prefer to believe they have allowed this rumour to develop so that the crowd are up for it on Saturday.

Interesting- coopers faith in his back room staff may be an issue?
