I personally think that 7 points should be a minimum realistic expectation from these next four. Although I admit that I am trying to raise the bar and get people believing a bit more.

Actually think you are being reasonable here. I said yesterday we are in a mini league of mid table teams and all of the above are, I know Brighton are 8th, think they will end 8-10th personally.

That means we need to be competing with all of these teams and taking points off all of them particularly at home. To say we are in the mid table mini league is fine but I don’t want to see Forest adrift at the bottom of it either.

Think 6 points should be a minimum expectation, 7 and above very good indeed.

I don't understand why you are trying to raise the bar of expectations? When has fans having loftier expectations than they should ever helped?

Do you know how high EM's bar is set? It's very high so people who are happy to finish fourth from bottom like yourself should raise their bar too. Finishing fourth from bottom will also get Steve Cooper sacked. Show some ambition man!

Yeah I get all that EM, players etc. However, I still don't see how we as fans expecting high finishes is going to help improve the team? Surely it will just hasten the demise of the manager and put unnecessary pressure on? The team has responded best when it has the fans support (eg Villa) as opposed to when the fans get nervous or unsupportive (eg Luton, Burnley).

The players and the manager are already fully aware what is expected.

I get what Wassy is saying about weight of expectation being passed on to the fans. The atmosphere is what drove us on last year when we were the underdogs but it was lacking in the early season games when we all turned up expecting to win.

Thing is if we are established in the PL we can’t rely on being underdogs forever and need to generate our own enthusiasm. To be honest a lot of PL teams fans complain about this sort of thing when the realistic aim for the season is mid table its hard to get as motivated.

I dont think it’s unrealistic to look to beat all of these teams as long as we don’t start getting on the team’s back if its not so straightforward.

The team have got to be able to win without the fans generating a great atmosphere home & away.
Just look at West Ham, so little noise from a 60000 seat stadium, but their team still had fight. Liverpool, ManCity, etc also have fans than only get excited when the goals go in.

Last year we averaged 1 win every 4 games and this year we should probably look for 1 in 3 with more draws away. The expectations people set would have us in the top 6.

Well failure to beat Burnley and Luton at home so surely it's fair game. Steve absolutely hammered the players after our loss at West Ham too so if Steve can do it then surely the fans can vent the odd frustration or two (that's all it was).
