Morgan Gibbs-White
Can't fault his work rate but it's not happening for him so far this season is it.

Is it zero goals and zero assists? Also his set pieces have generally been poor I think.

Also a bit too much show boating at times which has resulted in him giving the ball away cheaply.

Needs to up his game and we need to get him back to his best.

He remains our best creative outlet but suffice to say he hasn’t pushed on from last season. See the above posts from when this thread was commented on.

Can't disagree with what your saying. He's a proper player but something needs to change and there needs to be much more output on goals and assists.

According to the fantasy football he has 3 assists this season...2 against manure and 1 today (his saved shot must count as one).

Needs to be playing central like last year. Good player. But more of a 10 that a winger.

Wasted in the BJ role needs to be more central, SC here's a tip try using Danilio in that position?

It's an interesting point.

Don't you build your team and formation around your best player playing in his best and favoured position?

Defo mate.  Could be easily playing mgw behind 2 up top like last season with Johnson and taiwo. This time Elanga/origi/Cho

Made a goal yesterday and is starting to come inside into the 10 a bit like Maddison used to do for LCFC. This is a position he has played before. However, he has been his best for us in a straight 10. I personally see him as a number 8 as he matures as he lacks explosive pace but has the work rate.

I find him very frustrating to watch, Elanga & CHO have found the net this season MGW has had chances but doesn't look like scoring. This is fine but when the tricks and flicks aren't coming off and hes giving away key free kicks it makes him hard to like.

The chance creation stat is a little dubious when he takes all the set pieces...

If you want MGW in a no10 role, you'd be playing Danilo as a winger? (Given only Elanga is capable of playing that role) or switch back to 3421 but then you can't fit Elanga in.

I dont disagree, he was better as a number 10 just not sure we have the players for that. We clearly bought to play 3421 or 433, if we wanted to play 4231 we'd have needed at least one if not two wide forwards to accommodate MGW playing centrally as well as a backup for MGW.

Long article in the Athletic about Forest’s set pieces.

Probably inconclusive but the stat which is most interesting is MGWs expected assists (xA) from set-pieces this season is 0.97, the seventh best figure in the division.
To me that says that he is decent with a dead ball but we just aren’t capitalising on his chances.

Still think we could mix it up a bit and give some others a chance. Article confirms Forest do not have a specialist set piece coach although are looking into it. You would think Reidy could do that better than most to be fair.

I would like to see someone else take the odd free kick and corner, we might even score.
