Stevie Cooper
Thing is its a results driven business- and I am praying for a few wins as my perspective is this: Many proven managers could not handle our club and failed to get us out of The Championship (other than to League 1), now we are in the Prem Steve is learning fast. He is regarded as one of the most progressive young(ish) coaches in the Country. If he were a player, he'd be Murillo, fantastic start, massive potential but lacks experience and prone to the odd error, but will be superb-hopefully with us.

Personally, I think he is the best option for us and if we xan beat Villa and perform at West Ham (alot of ifs I know) then all is rosy again.

Hope so Zico because despite what I have been saying I hope that Steve is still our manager in 6 months time because that will mean that we are winning football matches and climbing the league.

I just want us to be winning football matches, that is more important to me than who our manager is.

That's the same for all of us I believe, just some of us don't think changing managers is a good way to achieve that.

Sniff I agree with most on here, I also want SC to be winning matches BUT I also want us to entertain fans like myself at the same time, what wrong with that aim!

If Steve goes lets just see what happens because the truth is that we could be better and we could be worse.

That also applies if he stays.

My personal opinion is that there are better managers currently out there and available than Steve Cooper but that does not mean that I want him to be sacked.

I am not sure there are that many top top managers out there waiting to be in charge of us. To even replicate what Cooper has done for us they would need to be amongst the very best.

He got us promoted to the Championship. Lets have some perspective here.

How Many different managers have done that?

Even Megson, Hughton, Holloway and Warnock have done it loads of times.

I like Steve but to suggest that we can't replace him with someone better is based on nothing but assumption and guess work.

Also you don't know EM very well if you think that he will take a backward step now we are in our second season in the PL and appoint anything but a top manager.

Well if you want actual fact, how many teams changed manager at our level and found someone better last year or this year? Why would we be different? I can think of plenty that found worse managers or similar managers but then what's the point of that?

Even if EM does somehow find a great manager, sacking Steve would surely set a precedent that whenever we have any bad runs or don't improve significantly that we just sack again and again and then you end up getting relegated. Or even if we stay up it would be an Everton like existence, where each new manager needs new players to fit their preferred style and we end up with an even bigger bomb squad. We aren't just going to appoint a new bloke that charges us up to top half because our team simply isn't close to that level.

Once Steve does go, pandora's box will be open. What happens when he goes, then 5 games into the new manager's reign we've drawn a few, played a few top 6 sides and not won? There'll be pressure again won't there? We're so lucky to have a manager that has so much stock that can hold off large scale fan mutiny. We won't have this again.

Mate, if you want entertainment I'd suggest switching to yesterdays opposition. Name me another team that has come up from the championship in recent times, with no squad, that is offering the entertainment you desire? I think you'll struggle.

Who has come up successfully and entertained? Well Brentcelona of course but think they are different. They have been building a team with the same philosophy for 5 years. Yes thats 5 years with the same manager- make you think? Cooper has had 2 years and you want us to be overtaking them.
Brentford may well be tinpot, annoying and self entitled but we could still learn from them.

Speaking of self- entitled, that’s increasingly our own fan base. 22 years of failure I thought had knocked it out of us but it seems to be back with vengeance.

A brief list of managers with top CVs who have come to the Premier League and significantly underachieved.
Luiz Felipe Scholari
Avram Grant
Christian Gross
Jacques Santini
Juande Ramos
Remi Garde
Andre Villas-Boas
Frank De Boer
Felix Magath

Thats before you get to the likes of Lampard and Gerrard. Forest have themselves appointed managers with seriously good CVs, Steve Maclaren, Alex Mcleish.

Are there better managers out there than Cooper right now? Yes Definitely.
But finding one isnt easy and then they have to be the right fit for the club which the above list tells you is harder still.

Which is why when you finally find one the obvious thing to do would be to nurture and treasure him, build through a few ups and downs. Not discard at the first sign of difficulty.

I can only see us appointing Lopetegui if Steve goes, he did well at Wolves last year.

1. He didn’t do well at Wolves. He inherited an excellent squad which was underachieving and got them to 13th. Wolves shed most of their biggest names in the summer and appointed ONeil who currently has them 12th.

2. He is a vile individual with despicable thuggish tactics which he instils in his team. Check out his disciplinary record last season, Wolves are the worst in the league by some distance.

Above any manager I can think of, I do not ever what to see Lopetegui and his “security staff” ever tarnish the name of Nottingham Forest.
