Stevie Cooper
Id say our home game suggests we're a bottom 4 ish team. But after the hard lessons learned from last year we're a mid table away side if you get my meaning. So us being 15th in the table is about right Id say. Unlike last season we have the luxury of 3 teams in the league who cant win for toffee down there. If one or two do get a couple of wins and we get nowt over the next few weeks then the pressure will really begin to hurt Cooper.

When was the last time we comfortably cruised to a home win? Maybe Palace at home last year and Leicester at home (although I think they missed a few chances first). Anyone remember any more?

Apart from the herculean backs to the wall home wins last season we really have demonstrated that we just cant play an expansive game at home and dominate a team for 90 minutes.

I don't think anyone can say Cooper didn't get that completely wrong. Echo what most have said, those three subs at the same time were ridiculous. Yates for Sangare, I understood that. Dominguez? Boly? Even if Boly was injured, Niakhate is a way better option against big forwards. It honestly felt like just giving the lads some minutes.

That is exactly what it was.

Also one or two who were saying that we shouldn't have punished Palace last week because they had players missing now saying that we didn't win against Luton because we had players missing. Make up your mind, which is it?

I am 100% convinced that Steve is currently underachieving with this squad and nothing anyone says is gonna change my mind. Hopefully he can turn things around because we are now 6th from bottom and dropping.

Agreed.

I do think some of the new signings will take longer to bed in but they are the minority. Not sure about Turner - he does look wobbly at the minute (lack of sleep?). I hope this is temporary but SC needs to look at it. A nervous keeper breeds nervous defenders.

For me, Yates should have started IF he was going to be used. Luton are a physical side and he would have broken the game up winning free kicks.

We are not firing on all cylinders and need a kick up the backside

if we had won yesterday we would have 9th. i think Steve Cooper has massively over achieved at Nottingham Forest.

But we didn't and we are 6th bottom.

I agree that Steve overachieved when he first arrived but I am talking about the here and now and 6th bottom with the money spent and the players he has and wanted who are at his disposal tells me that he is currently underachieving.

Agree mate. We have a team what is better than half the teams in the league. But yet struggle at home, against Sheff united. And Luton. Coops has over achieved now is struggling

let’s sack the best manager we have had in the last 30 years because we have not won since we beat Chelsea a few games back. i cannot believe how short sighted some of us have become. Do we really think we will get better than Cooper

We made a pigs ear of our easier on paper runs last year. We need to pick up an unexpected win and keep games tight. Cooper is experienced at this and I back him although it's another new squad and the owner won't be as patient this time.

Of course we can, why not?

I was recently reading an article about the top 50 rated managers currently in football and there was no Steve Cooper on the list.

Having said that where has someone said that Steve should be sacked? I said yesterday when I flagged up the thread to keep it real. It's here the 5th post from the top https://coyrforestforum.co.uk/showthread...3&page=109

Sorry but I can’t let this one go.

His mates apparently…..

Sangare was on a yellow and visibly tiring. The options were Yates (who everyone said was indispensable last season quoting our win rate with him) or Santos or Aguilera neither of whom have played in the Premier League. Seriously who was the sensible option?

Boly we know has a poor injury record. If he felt a tweak he asked to come off. If he had stayed on and pulled a muscle he would be out for a month and we are well screwed. Felipe is the obvious alternative but injured. Niakhate is left footed as is Murillo so not ideal. Worrall is right footed and was excellent in his last game so again the obvious choice.

I assume you don’t mean Kouyate is one of his mates? The sub for Dominguez is clearly the questionable one and which lost us all momentum but again he was the sensible option. If MGW hadn’t given away a stupid free kick (if the defender had made more of a meal he could have seen red for it) and Aurier hadnt given an impression of Tom Daly then we would all be praising Cooper for game management.

Totally agree switching all 3 at once cost us and suspect Cooper knows that himself but this minutes for mates stuff is simply ridiculous.

Yes I see where you are coming from SM.

Of course it's not literally minutes for mates but I think you can see what one or two are getting at.

I think Cooper thought Bolly needed to be replaced and doesnt feel he can trust Niakhate, hence Worrals appearance. Wozza is the club captain, and a vocal member of the squad. In Cooper's eyes he was the logical replacement, nothing to do with being his mates or a local.

Wozza screwed up, Cooper screwed up.

I am certain that if it was still 1-0 instead of 2-0 then Boly would have stayed on the pitch. I don't think he needed to come off and I am absolutely certain that he didn't ask to come off. We went 2-0 up thought the game was won and made 3 unnecessary changes.
