Lets give them both a chance to settle in properly and play 20 games or so before we start making bold claims. Hopefully both will be here for years to come anyway. Disappeared Tricky. On another note one day I would love to see a starting eleven consisting of Montiel, Murillo, Felipe, Danilo and Dominguez even if it's just for one match.

Disappeared because nobody actually said Montiel should never play again. People were discussing his poor performance which was true. Since then he has had 2 sub appearances and looked decent in both all be it in games where he hasn’t been tested defensively too much.
As for playing those 5 together I would like to see it too but starting to think there is more going on with Felipe, he has been missing a long time now.

He just hasn’t been able to get to the required fitness level needed to play Prem football because of his knee complaint. He’s had issues where he is training for a week, then not training, and so on. We’re in more of a position now where we don’t need to wheel players out.

He was called garbage (that was the exact word used) and having just read back through the Forest - Burnley thread it was also mentioned that he should never play again. I can put the link up if you want but I have no interest in exposing the posters who said it.

Any idea if Felipe's problem is treatable (eg by a knee op, or wash-out) or whether its more physiological due to his age/wear and tear etc?

I said I didn't think he would start again (which he hasn't), I also agreed he had a shocker in that game. The primary issue is that Aurier and Aina are both clearly better than him right now, which hasn't really changed. You are obviously right though, 2 games is way too early to write the bloke off and there is definitely still a chance he becomes a starter at some point in the future, maybe even next year. He has looked better off the bench as an attacking threat, which is useful, hopefully it has allowed him to build some confidence. I will also admit to a bit of negative bias after reading that Athletic article on him at the time.

It’s not psychological, it’s pain management (12-10-2023, 06:40 PM)Reds73 Wrote:(10-10-2023, 12:42 PM)DR Forest Wrote:It’s not psychological, it’s pain management(10-10-2023, 09:17 AM)Reds73 Wrote:(10-10-2023, 07:56 AM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote: Disappeared because nobody actually said Montiel should never play again. Hi Reds I said physiological not psychological ie is it glen McGrath type wear and tear that’s not going away or can it be ‘cured’? |
