Brennan Johnson
There is also a case that sometimes a really quick player should occasionally slow down so his teammates can catch up, or they hit the by-line and pull back from there on the angle....

Like I said the other issue for me is why was that chance vs Southampton was the one occasion that one of our strikers had got themselves into a decent position for the cross.

Probably because Southampton are S**t.

That would be it.

The ManU and Inter are about £20m apart on valuation but Utd confident they will get their man.

By coincidence according to the Mail:
Brentford and Forest are about £20m apart on valuation for Johnson but Brentford are confident they will get their man.

That part on Johnson contradicts this by that Jac Talbot: https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/tra...favourites

In the above article as a passing comment on MGW

"Forest have no intention to sell that England Under-21s player and his price tag would be close to treble digits".

Crazy to think one of our players is worth 80m+ (at least to us).

I do wish Brentford would just do one. The arrogance and entitlement of a lot of their fans *really* annoys me. This supposed belief that they're better than other teams because of the way they operate. If we were to sell Johnson I'd much rather it be to Villa.

This is how I feel about it also.. really starting to dislike the Brentford lot.

yes I'd be disappointed if he left now however I wouldn't bemoan him if he went to one of the greedy 6 or a Newcastle, villa, west ham providing they met our valuation..

Any other team surely is a just a sideways step unless he isn't happy here...

The thing that concerns me with this Brentford and Brennan Johnson thing is that it smacks of them getting some encouragement from his side. If he really wasn't interested in the move surely they'd not bother continuing to pursue him.

So then, what price do we sit down and talk at?
£50m upfront?
£40 upfront plus addons?

If the choice is keep Johnson but stick mostly with the current squad and a few cheapos and loans or sell him and bring in Ihenacho, Pedro and Mavropanos for roughly the same money what would you do?

I'd sell.

Just not to Brentford.

From Brennan's perspective he wasn't even playing at the end and did always feel like Steve was fitting his team around him. If we're planning on sticking with wingback, he's not really got a role.

I think this is probably affecting the slower start to our signings.
The Brennan situation would completely change the budget of the positions we are looking at.

Which is why Brentford came in early with a low ball offer.
They suspect we have limited wriggle room and may be tempted to sell now so we can do early business. They also think we will eventually crack if we can’t get who we want in.

Brennan and his dad had a meeting with Brentford reps before the end of last season and was happy with an proposal made. So that has definitely encouraged them to bid. Reports say Brennan is also changing his agent. Normally this is done when you are looking to facilitate a move away. I would like him to stay but all the signs are of him going or wanting to go.

Yes I’ve heard the rumours re the meeting supposedly had at the end of last season.
They are certainly getting encouragement from somewhere, and changing Agents is usually not without reason.
I’m surprised David Johnson would see Brentford as the next step though.
Maybe a Villa, West Ham, Newcastle but I’m not seeing it with Brentford.
