I saw the game on the tv. Cast iron penalty by today's rules. Arm in an unnatural position, ball hit it right on, prevented the ball going to McKenna. If that happend to a forest arm it's a penalty and red card. They hardly looked at it. At the bare minimum they should have had the ref go look again. I cant wait till next season and this var bollocks is gone.

if its cast iron penalty then why wasn't it given? Are you suggesting that the Var are not impartial and that Man U are their favorites?

Then it will be back to the "f*****g referees in this league are shockingly bad" or "where's VAR when you want it?" "We should've had a penalty there or he was well onside FFS" or "No way was that ever a penalty or he was offside by a country mile FFS".

Yeah, same. I won't miss VAR and in some ways the prem. It has the potential to be a great season next season, if/when we go down. I'm sure EM won't be happy about it and will remedy it, starting with bulldozing that Main Stand down

In fairness, it was more of a cast iron penalty than the one Arsenal were awarded. Inconsistency or the big 6 syndrome?

If EM is going to change manager and his team then it would be better to do it now so the new guys can get to know the players and vice versa. He could then figure out with Ross who stays and who goes. That way the summer could be positive and strategy planned.

And thats fine. There's always going to debate about ref decisions but when some things get looked at and then some things dont, when in two games in the same afternoon, one hand ball is given and another not then all you've done is move the responsibility from a ref on the pitch to another ref in a studio somewhere who is still making mistakes. The game is not improved by VAR. We've both benefited and suffered from it this season, so you could say it's evened itself out but I bet if you polled all fans who attend matches, itd be 85 to 15% in favour of dumping it.

Big clubs get big decisions. It's always been so and always will be.

can't argue with the first bit

Anyway, I still reckon we'd would've struggled to win today even with a penalty and Maguire off. For a start, we'd have to actually score the pen! And I reckon they could've beat us with 10 men, such was the gulf in class.

Tricky post: So his tactics last season were poor also?

How about, we were beaten by a team that spent £250M last season alone and that isnt including the many other players who were already on their books?

Yes today we were made to look like schoolboys playing against men. That is the gulf between us smaller, less attractive sides and the big 6.

But I am sick and tired of seeing and hearing the same old negativity week after week after week.

Tricky, last season we were playing in the Championship a much lower standard then the PL, also as regards internationals and correct me if I am wrong but all but Surridge that played today are current or recent internationals. We have also spent the thick end of £180 million, its down to coaching and SC and his backroom staff inexperience at this level.

True, can't argue that.

Setup to at least have a go. Awoniyi is no left forward. Play him down the middle and have a go.
