There is no more blame game of they are all new players or he didn't want them because they would have been all new to a new manager and all unwanted. It is all down to game plan, coaching and using the players the right way.

Come on. Really?  What game plan is it you think would genuinely have had us higher in the league with the players we have available.
If you pay £8 million or more for any player, you don't expect them to miscontrol balls, pass to opposition under limited pressure, do stupid flicks deep in own half or head the ball to opposition centre forwards. You would probably expect £20 million plus of full backs not to show "inverted wingers" (I prefer one footed playing on opposite wing) the inside, leading to both goals. You expect expensive highly paid midfielders to make every effort to close down around edge of box...especially in time added on.  That's not down to coaching (other than when they were learning their trade as 13/14 year olds) that's down to a lack of application and football intelligence by the player.

With the odd exception  which players have been used incorrectly- apart from not being selected- which after last night  it's debatable if 7 or 8 of them deserve to be starting at all.

I go and sit through the dross every game and I watch the opposition looking far better individually than us, but collectively we usually match them at home.  Last night we couldn't get the ball and when we did, sh1t decisions  passing or control gave it straight back .

The fact we are not cut adrift is the real surprise at this stage.

Maybe  a new manager comes in and we go on a great run. Realistically though, with these players-not a chance.  They are doing their best  which is not on a par with the rest.

Yep agree 100%, unless they are the favourite scapegoat they seem to be immune from blame though.

Just because we spent loads of money, doesn't mean it was spent well. Also doesn't necessarily mean it was spent badly, think there's some decent players in there too that will come through in time.

I get it, I am the same, mid 30s, seen nothing good. That doesn't change the facts though, we simply aren't as good as the other teams that had way longer to prepare. We're unlucky to be up in a year when there wasn't at least one dreadful team but arguably we should've been that team!

You look at our rivals, all are either established premier league clubs or Bournemouth (who seem to have irritatingly smashed the Jan window) and who already had the core of a good team, probably would've been up with Fulham had they not had Parker!

I disagree with a lot of Steve's choices, his subs are pretty questionable at times. Why keep playing Ayew when he's offering nothing? Why is Mangala coming off early every time? Was Lodi not fit enough still as Toff got battered by Harrison. That doesn't mean he doesn't also do a lot right too, such as the selection of Danilo on Saturday unexpectantly as an example.

Just pissed off with what a shit show the season has been mate... Were now backing a bloke to try and change it. In the same time we would expect a new guy to try and change. Looking at the fixtures, were f****d,  were out of time..

Just hope too many fans won't be upset when Steve goes to palace if they stay up. How they invest in youth, dream come true for him, there's no loyalty in football. We're sticking by him, he won't, he jumped ship at Swansea as he thought the club were going in a different direction to him, we go down he will do the same..

Don't want him sacked, but I also feel he won't get us out this mess, what the hell has happen since we had that good spell, we have stronger CB pairing now.. midfield runs smoothly untill he takes mangala off. Then it all goes to pot. We need at least 9/10 points to stay up and pray the rest fail. Can't see it

Yep well up for this, the lesser scene new Assistant bounce!

It would be a good move, get it done EM.

I fail to see what Tate and Reid bring to the table and Steve needs help and guidance etc.

Personally I think we've been better than I expected overall. Probably only look at the Bournemouth home game and West Ham away as ones I really expected loads better from. Maybe you just had higher expectations than me!

I think if Steve leaves for Palace next year, then we'll get a healthy fee and the fans will be united still behind a new manager so it should bode well for next year. I think he'd stay personally ala Dyche. Why take a Palace role that without Zaha that team looks weak when you have what will look on paper an easy promotion with a stacked squad.

I don't think we'll stay up but I didn't think we would anyway. The league has been even harder than I imagined it would be though. Doesn't mean I don't think we can stay up though.

We need our back 4 of aurier felipe niakhate and Lodi, on paper that back 4 is better than most of the bottom half tables teams.. but yet were still leaking goals.. 4 relegation teams play each other Saturday.. we have villa then a run of really hard games. Going to take a miracle..

Is it better though? Niakhate we've yet to see enough to judge, Felipe yes I think he'd get in most bottom half teams. Aurier, has been surprising but don't forget he was a free agent and none of those teams wanted him. Lodi has been ok, nothing special in my opinion, never really got the excitement about him. I get he's young and maybe would develop once he's had a year acclimatising to the league but it's been a learning curve certainly.

EDIT: It's definitely better than having Neco and Toffolo who are not premier league standard players right now.

It probably wont happen at least not this season but I am in full agreement too.

I sat directly behind Alan Tate earlier this season so could hear much of what he said. I wont go in to detail besides saying I was far from impressed.

I would like to hear the detail of what you heard SM even if there are asterisks etc. The quality of our coaching set up is  very much at the centre of judging what is causing our underperforming. I've many times said that the moving on of Gary Brazil seemed to coincide with our decline. This was rubbished but I still feel that somehow there have been changes that have played their part in  damaging morale and performance.

There was so discussion on here about coopers backroom staff not having enough experience to maybe help him get us over the line.

Like the club did with getting O’Driscoll in to help Cotterill, which probably saved us. Who is there of prem league status we could get in to help Cooper?
