Worse football i have seen under Cooper in 40 years as a fan.
The goal is that way Mr Cooper

The writing has been on the wall for a while. The football is negative and so, so slow. Compare to Italy and Spain in the Euros, their goalkeepers rarely touched the ball and, when in possession, the ball only went as far back as the home side of the centre circle. Under Cooper, the goalkeeper was amassing 50+ passes a game - ridiculous and that doesn't include the number of times he booted it up[ the pitch back to the opposition while under no pressure whatsoever!
Combine that with the lacklustre performances during the season, culminating in the play-off final where the team literally didn't turn up, and it wasn't looking rosy for Steve. Add to that going for two jobs, one in the Prem (fair enough) and one at a fellow Championship club (really?) and his position went from bad to untenable. No club with any sense could carry on with a manager who'd done that.
Thanks for some of the memories, Steve. We'd rather forget the games where we literally looked like we couldn't be bothered and could barely get out of our own half regardless of the opposition though.

Bad workman blames his tools. Not really news.
Cooper had plenty of backing, but unless they'd previously played for England u17's he wasn't all that interested in using them. Maybe if he hadn't spent the previous 18 months trying to shift or ignore any player offering a bit of flair and creativity he might not have needed a targetman to knock it long to.
When Cooper joined I did not want him for the reasons above largely.
However, that's just not how it went down last year. We played the best attacking football I've seen at Forest. It's disappointing plan A didn't work this year in the prem and we've had to resort to a plan B. However, there's no argument in that every time he's tried more expansive football, we've been battered.
Maybe he's great, maybe he's not. He's certainly earned the chance to prove it and leave on his terms. Plus, I honestly can't think of a better manager for next year and do not believe someone could just come in and suddenly improve this team.
I just wish there was more acceptance that the players simply aren't good enough right now for a variety of reasons including injuries, players not yet adjusted to the league, too young and still learning, don't fit the system etc.

If the player's are not good enough (I don't believe that) then I wish that there was more acceptance that Steve is largely responsible although not totally responsible for assembling the squad that he has.

I do accept that SC transfers especially the mid season ones haven't been good enough. Funny enough the ones we claimed were forced on SC at the start of the season are the ones improving at the moment. Maybe we should be using the stats transfer system.

None were forced on him. He had the last say on all of them. There were no signings behind his back.

Forced not the right word but you know what I mean. Basically the ones we fans linked to the money ball way seem to be the better ones over the ones we signed out side that system.

I'm now in the we need a change camp. Same comments, reviews, interviews after every single match. Really poor footbal with no signs of improvement. Doesn't take away what was achieved last season but I do think someone else could scratch us a few more points in the final 9 games just by being someone different. It might release the players a bit just to have someone new through the door. Free hit for a manager, no real pressure.

I refuse to believe he chose to sign Dennis and then just refused to play him for ages. I'm sure there would've been others.
Regardless, it's not just about who these players are, it's why we signed these ones. The answer being this is the best we could attract in our position of surprise promotion. Basically players the other 19 teams didn't want.
If anything the failure of the season has probably hinged on the few players we genuinely nabbed that were allegedly of higher quality.
Lingard, Freuler, Williams, Mangala, Wood.
For varying reasons they've not stepped up this year so far and it cost us.

Same mangala who's been one of the best players the last 2 games? It's more of a crime he hasn't been getting a game

Totally agree, something needs to change, he's ran out of idea's and he cannot get a tune out of these player's.

I've been saying that for weeks.
3 points from 24.
No win in eight.
Just 2 points against West Ham, Wolves, Everton and Leeds.
I am trying to be positive but I have a flat battery at the moment and it probably needs replacing with a new one.

I think Cooper is a brilliant coach. Not many could have come in and do what he did last season. We started this season at a massive disadvantage. We have been playing catch up with trying to make the squad good enough for this division and it was always going to be s big ask to stay up. Cooper will leave us and be successful elsewhere. The problem I have is what happened in January. We gambled upon the future of the club on signings like Wood and Shelvey. Now no immediate prospect of new stand, loss of cat a for academy. Going down for some teams is recoverable because clubs are well run. Not us unfortunately.

What's been worse in my opinion is that we've gone ahead in the last three games and only got one point. Not being able to gain points from being behind is one thing but we're really in trouble if we can't even keep our noses in front in matches.
