If Wood was missing chance after chance after chance then I would be concerned. The fact is that he hasn't had a single chance created for him yet. Harry Kane could have played up top for us last week at Fulham and it would have made no difference whatsoever.

Im not writing him off either and am convinced we will eventually see what he is about. But think you are being over generous Sniff, its not the chances he is missing, not his game anyway. He should be holding the ball up, winning headers, pulling the defenders out of place. Seen none of that so far.

I think Cooper has to share some responsibility. Hes dropped in a player who doesnt suit our system at all and the result is he's done nothing. But I'm not writing Wood off yet. His quality will come through soon im sure.

What do we reckon today then? Shelvey debut? Colback in for Mangala? Dennis starting ahead of Wood for pace on the break?

My guess is:
Navas Aurier Felipe Worrall Lodi Freuler Colback Shelvey Dennis Brennan MGW

Obviously dependant on Shelvey's fitness levels.

No way Worrall and Felipe will play!! Oh no, wait.... ?

I'd like to see that side but I think Steve would be more likely to go for Ayew from the start. Think Shelvey is nailed on to be honest.

Don’t think Jack will start TBH
Midfield 3 of Shelvey, Freuler + Danilo/Mangala

We’re either playing a 442 diamond or 532 with Lodi as LCB and Colback as LWB. Either way, it’s going to be a difficult watch. City have so much quality that they’re not playing a LB so that Bernardo Silva can get into the side

I'm glad they have put the second team out.
