So some massive IFs here however….

We currently have 17 points from 18 games
Should we win our next game vs Leicester we would have 20 points from 19 games.

That is the mid point of the season and we would be exactly half way to the 40 points total which would almost certainly keep us up. In other words well on track. Not too bad considering the start?

You havent factored in a dip in form Salv which will inevitably come at some point. All teams in the prem have some kind of a dip at some point or other.

Plus we've got Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool in our last eight games so ideally we'll get as many points on the board as possible before then.

I do wonder if the total needed to stay up this season will be lower though. It looks like there's going to be at least eight teams involved in the relegation fight. Possibly some could pull clear but others could get dragged in. 

It does feel an awful lot nicer looking at the table this morning though. I'm so glad Johnson got that ball spot on for Awoniyi in this match to make up for not passing vs. Chelsea. This was definitely the better match of the two to have won.

37 or 38 should be enough.

Seems that 38/39 is the magic number for survival although I don't remember a season that after 18 games there was so many teams around the same points total or as high. After 19 games last season the 3rd from bottom team had 11 points and 38 was required. The year before required 39 with the third from bottom only on 12 after 18 games.

The closest example to what is happening this year so far is the 2019/20 season where the bottom 3 teams were on 12, 12 and 15 points after 18 games and only 35 points were required to stay up.

So they Chelsea team who we were relatively happy tonget a home draw against last week is currently getting ripped a new one by Man City. It just demonstrates the levels in the prem and how far we are behind.

Total cliche I know  but no easy fixtures in this league.  Out of he 4  games against lowly opposition 3 are away from home  I'd bite your hand off for 3 draws..
