We're not underachieving though, by any metric we are currently where you'd expect us to be. We have the worst lineup in the league, anywhere above 20th would be an overachievement. I don't know whether it's a case that people think 100m automatically makes you better but you're ignoring the fact that everyone else has spent money over the years and have built better teams than us right now.
Dennis was pointless because clearly Steve did not want him or rate him and therefore was likely not to play him much. You want to try and pin the blame on the manager in some part for recruitment, then you can't have it both ways. If you're going to say he's not involved and should just play the players he's given, that's fine but then he doesn't think he's as good as Brennan/MGW/Lingard so is not going to get much game time. Hence, he was a pointless signing whichever way you look at it. Unless it was pre-agreed upon being appointed, I suspect that Dyche or whoever would also come to this same conclusion and not use Dennis much.
I don't think Dyche would do any better, we don't have the players for the tactics he played previously so it would be a completely new tactic for him. He'd be learning on the job just like Cooper except he'd be further behind. Plus then the football in the following season would be terrible, whereas at least with SC we know there is potential for more progressive football in the long run as he's did it last year.

Here's two scenario's that'll really piss me off if either happen.
1) Cooper gets the Palace game and we dont win, but he's given the 6 week world cup break to work with the players. We come back and lose comfortably to Man Utd and Chelsea and then he's sacked.
2) We stick with Cooper and get relegated without a fight. We then lose a few early games in the championship and Cooper gets sacked.

Agreed Pap. I keep reading that we should stick with Cooper because he is the best man to get us back up again. Well I don't buy that at all.
The chances are that if we went down and a team like Southampton came knocking for Cooper he would be off like a shot. What then?

I have my doubts hed be offered a job like that. Not after this season with us now. Whats he done to suggest he's equipped to take on another prem club?

I hate being anti Cooper and anti Forest but its just the same old shit over and over now. Hes a great bloke, a great talker and no doubt is well regarded by the players but something's majorly wrong this season on the pitch and its not being addressed. I'm staggered the Big Man's got so much patience.

Here a scenario that would annoy the shit out of me.
We sack Cooper, appoint Benitez and go down anyway. He walks end of the season and we get someone like Corberan or Ismael and spend next year with the dregs of the current squad and the inevitable unsuitable panic buys we make in January.
Meanwhile we get to watch MOTD next year with Cooper merrily fist pumping Southampton fans as they celebrate their win.

Cooper’ record at Forest is remarkable. He performs a miracle to get us promoted. The squad that did this was based on loans. The rest of the players had been rubbish for 18 months. We try and assemble the best squad we can in a few weeks from getting promoted to the end of the transfer season. Everybody on this planet knows it will take time for them to gel and that there remains huge deficiencies. How many other premier league starting 11’s does Worrall Cook McKenna Boly get in. I can’t think of too many. The squad also lacks a premier league quality centre forward. We are struggling but I think improving. We were unlucky not to win today. Sacking Cooper would be brainless unless we were appointing somebody so obviously better that he would get immediate victories with this quite poor squad for the premier league. I don’t think there are many out there who we could get who you would be confident would improve results. I hope the Owner stays patient and we don’t go down the same path we have before. Cooper will get snapped up by another premier league and we end up with a premier league has been just sliding down the league.

Time for a change I think, don't see Cooper keeping us up. Keeping him for a direct bounce up again doesn't make sense to me. We have try everything stay up.

Totally agree with that bit.
Too much talk of going down and not enough talk of actually trying to stay up.
There is no guarantee that Cooper stays IF we end up going down and there is no guarantee that he gets us back up again even if he did stay.
I am glad some of you lot were not fighting next to me in the former Yugoslavia otherwise I probably wouldn't be here now.
Lets show some fighting talk and try to stay up instead of this 'well Cooper will be the best man to get us back up again shit'.

I'm all a bit confused. We were dreadful early season but almost everyone involved in football agreed it was unlikely to work straight away Cooper, and in fairness many of us had seen before him, what was going wrong and he changed tactics. We improved and looked to be going in the right direction. Then one result against Arsenal, which was dreadful, and there is discussion about his job again. If we coukd actually finish, and if the people interpreting VAR were so obviously one sided, we would have won today. Since Leicester, we have been much better, bar the one game. Picking up some points in the top division. Is it really bad enough to change? If other clubs seem to be wanting Cooper, does it not signal that we would be getting rid too early?
I can see the the counter, but my view is we need to stick with a manager/coach eventually, and he worked miracles getting us up and I still maintain he deserves more time. There SHOULD be improvement.
Only my take.
