If he wants to go what can they do? His contract finishes in a few months.

You would have thought the likes of MGW ( who basically signed because of Cooper) would have sought clarity that Cooper was going to be staying ? Would we have paid that money for MGW is Cooper hadn’t been manager. All sounds very strange to me. If the board didn’t think he was going to commit to us, then why allow him to even start the season

Think they are looking to speak to a few managers it seems. Id hope we rejected the approach instantly. Couldn't agree more. After the miracle of last season, how on earth have we got ourselves in a position where we're even having these conversations? Cooper not sgning a contract & possibly unhappy? Owners willing to let him go? I just don't get it. We spent all summer chasing MGW, Cooper's number 1 target. That to me looks like the owners doing everything they can to keep the man happy. Cooper united the club last season & if he goes, I can see the fans turning quickly.

It's a brilliant opportunity for him and a step up from us as it stands right now. I'd like to think that sensible fans would recognise that. It's also massively presumptuous to say the season will end in almost certain relegation and be a disaster - that would depend on who we bring in and remember our fishing pool of managers is going to be somewhat different from how it's been in recent years in the Championship. Who's saying a new manager couldn't do a better job? Some of Cooper's team selections have been questioned after the Bournemouth match after all. Obviously Forest fans are going to hold Cooper in massive esteem after what he accomplished last season and rightly so. We don't know what he's thinking though and it seems that issue with the leaked news about his contract might have eroded some trust. If that's the case, and he's offered a really good opportunity with a stable and progressive club, then I certainly wouldn't blame him for taking it. But I wouldn't hold it against our owners and I wouldn't assume that automatically condemns us to doom this season either.

For me it still depends on the reason for him not signing the contract which we've not been told yet. That will define everything about how we see the board and potentially Cooper's legacy at the club too. I reckon he stays and this situation forces him to sign a new deal anyway. Then we batter Leeds or Fulham or whoever we play next.

I.e. someone wanted to approach us to talk about a better job with - presumably - better salary. I wouldn't be happy if I weren't given at least the chance to speak to them.

Is going to Brighton an amazing opportunity?
They have been over achieving under Potter, the next Brighton manager has a tough act to follow.

If Coops and the board are on the same page then he doesn’t go.
If there are some wounds that cut deep, then he prob would be interesting in leaving. Where does this leave the club in the interim though ?

Brighton have apparently been given permission to speak to Nathan Jones (why??) and Russell Martin and are expected to approach Forest to speak to Cooper too.
