Could have played another 90 and not scored.

The performance for the most part was very promising but just lacking up front. We are getting into good positions and considering this team has been together for a few weeks, there is plenty to suggest that they are getting better. But only one shot on target is a worry.
Oh well, I went into this one with hope rather than expectation and 2-0 is probably harsh. At least the next game is an easy one

Giving us 60% possession is asking for trouble, on another day or a slightly better team they concede a few and lose. They won't challenge for the title playing like that all year. Think we were decent, just need to work on getting people into the box when Brennan goes wide.

I thought we bossed the first half and overall it was a very good performance. But just one shot on target all game tells the tale. Dennis showed some bright touches but awoniyi may be bit of a donkey. We were better with a back three than 4. Nothing to be ashamed of. I don’t think we will get any points Wednesday either so will going into the Bournemouth game near to the bottom of the league.

Spurs a very cynical and dirty side. They slowed the game down at every opportunity. Realistically beating Spurs is always going to be a challenge, but we gave a good account of ourselves. I thought Dennis and Awoniyi looked bright when they came on. MGW seemed to be trying to do everything himself. I think he might need to let someone else take corners.

It will be the matches in September and October against Bournemouth, Leeds, Fulham, Leicester, wolves and villa that will define how we do this season, not today or Wednesday.
I think if we continue to play how we are against those sides, we should be able to pick up points. Not every side has a kane or a haaland. If kane was a forest player, we win that today. That was ultimately what separated the sides. And that has to be a positive at this stage

I thought we were brilliant, just need to hit the target and take our chances. Fantastic

Initial observations.
We played some great stuff at times and for about 75 mins were the best team The cleverest team won.

Yeah, I just don't think that's a tactic that wins you titles personally. Liverpool and Man City won't let us dominate them when we play them. It worked obviously but on another day when they don't get a scrappy early goal it might not be that effective and we score from a set piece or something. (Not with out set piece taking!) |
