Fulham Halftime Ramblings.......

Ream has been uncharacteristically slow and ponderous on the ball today, looks like he's moving through treacle at times. Just need to speed things up which starts with replacing Reed and Reid. Rodak again at the end of the half showing his decision making is just atrocious - he will cost us 9+ points if he's #1 next season as he's just not good enough

Kebano and Robinson subs at half would open up Forest.

Perplexing how predictable & slow we were. Some of our passes were awful & the c**k-up for their goal was "nearly" laughable.

Fabio had the best chance, but booted it right to the keeper.

Hopefully someone can be clinical in the second half...and I don't mean a Forest player

Massive c**k up aside, we're so poor at playing through the press, we'll be pressed a lot more next season. We're also being done out wide on the counter far too often, if the full backs are gonna both push up we need another player to drop in.

Have to commend Forest who have been excellent.

Much better game. They are happy to let us have the ball, but they look dangerous when they get into our final third. We've been poor in possession at times also, which is unlike us.

Thinking we are really missing Robinson's pace down the left side.  Really need more balls floating in over the top for when Mitro, Fabio or Harry make those runs.  Also need more forward passing and less back and sideways passing.

Found it tense, a battle - could go either way.
We're not quite  on our game, but Forest are very combative, some pacey, skillful players too.

Statistically we've been the far superior team but we look weirdly jumpy again like we did a month ago when we have the ball. Deffo there for the taking but we need more movement - Wilson been kept quiet but we need more from the left, I think Kebano's trickery will be more useful than BDR as a utility forward. Reed is offering nothing as he's a DM who can't pass playing as a #8 and he's also on a yellow. Get TC on for him and keep us on the front foot.

Need a response 2nd half, too much stuffing around at the back, and im afraid that to concede a goal like that shows we desperately need backline upgrades for the prem. Marco needs to light a fire under the boys, even if the results in other games are going our way, we need to finish the year in good form.

This really isn't as bad as people are making out.

It's not but at the same time Forest haven't played great and they've mainly just pressed pressed us, and excluding Seri and Fab they all look scared on the ball as they're being rushed. Next season will be a higher tempo so they need to get used to this sort of pressure on the ball now

Forest are not a brilliant team but the coach has them very well drilled, they play to their strengths, and we look physically outmatched.

TC, Seri and Fabio in our midfield together?   Not going to happen.   Defense is still required to keep Forest from netting another goal, and while Seri can put in a tackle, he's not a good defender and he's prone to lose the ball if pressed hard.

They’re defending deep which makes it difficult for us to find space to pass into or run into. We need a few shots from outside the box to test the goalie and perhaps draw them out.

My take, good first half, by Swansea and Forest and Man City! We need to do better, didn't agree with the team selection and at the moment I am being proved right!

Good game between two good teams. We are slightly better so far in my opinion, but have caused ourselves problems because of our own sloppy passing at times. Ream, Neco and Reed have been really off their games, the rest look good or better.

Reading this board we are being outclassed, which is surprising. In my opinion.

Mitro not at his best either. Some poor first touches and wrong decisions. He seems too focussed on trying to win a penalty than win the ball.

Cannot believe Bournemouth have come back from 3 down, we would never do that. We had 30 seconds to hold on to wrap up the title and failed on Saturday. We probably win the title still but we lack resilience and we will need to massively improve this next season.

It is our tempo that has gone. We used to play at such pace that defences couldn't get into shape, but now we are paying it 20% slower and so we end up just recycling it around the defence and base midfielders.

I really don’t understand all the whining on here. We were playing the form team of the league, and were the better team all through the game. With better finishing we could have scored a hatful.

Agree, they had no control in the game at all, just a few breaks when we made mistakes (and the howler for the goal of course). Not sure I saw anyone in their team I'd swap for one of ours.

Fulham The Aftermath.........

Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, it did. Second half especially he fell hook line and sinker to the dark arts displayed by forest. Lost count of the amount of forest players who went down with no one near them. Then to cap it all, Ryan Yates feigning a head injury in added time when we had a four on three break. As soon as the ref stopped play, Yates sprung to his feet like a young Gazelle. It's cheating end of and the referee should really be taking action. I Was worried for a minute that Mitro was looking at a red card as he was seething with the ref. Also the penalty shout which took around 2 mins to sort out. Linesman and ref listening in their earpieces only for the decision to be offside! Why didn't the Linesman flag straight away. Quite baffling and just summed up the evening.

I thought the match was well officiated overall and had nothing to do with the result.

forest probably just about deserved the result not because they were the better side but they managed the referee much better than we did and have some encouraging acting skills and yesterday was all about who could cheat best.

fforrest are our bogey team aren’t they? We also evidently don’t want to be champions.

At no stage did we look in control of this game.

We played fine. Had far more attacking pressure than forest and the goal conceded was a travesty. It's football. Weird stuff happens. forest are a good side. I hope they finish second.

I thought it was a good game with two good sides taking part, we battered them in the second half after a not so bright first half.

Totally dominated that game. Missed a few chances, but the momentum and focus is hard to maintain when you've already achieved the main goal of the season.

Expected a really tough game, and we got one. We looked flat in the final third. Need to dust overselves off and get back on track before the Luton game. Not going to get anything for free off them. Credit to Cooper for the job he has done with Forest. They are rock solid, and I think they'll finish second.

Silva picked the wrong team, although other than the defensive cockup, we were as good as forest! I thought it was quite a good game, except I support Fulham!

Good game. We were much better overall, and should have won by a couple. Can’t believe some think we couldn’t break them down, we ran and passed through them numerous times, and I am sure they are counting their lucky star that every important bounce went their way and that the Fulham players all had left their shooting boots at Home. We completely played them off the park second half and made them look like a really poor team.

Our Achilles heel is the high press and forest played it aggressively tonight. We played about 70% tonight but make no mistake forest players will be absolutely shattered. Never slate players but if you cant take a high press of forest, then you definitely aint going to enjoy the premiership. 4 players tonight really struggled.

I think the stats are that we had 20 shots to forest’s 9. The telling thing is that they managed to have more on target. Let’s face it we gifted them a goal and then couldn’t make our second half pressure pay- so many efforts ballooned over the bar.

Mitrovic needs to learn some discipline and I blame Management for that. His behaviour following that head clash near the end was a disgrace.

High quality game, nothing in it, but what have we learned. Most obvious thing to me between the teams was the keeper. Samba was calm, dealt with problems with assurance, calmness and clarity. All their defenders knew what samba would do and where he’d be, as he patrolled further out and dealt with problems.

Foul on Williams leading up to the goal. Saying that' we are being hustled by forest from minute one. Cooper came with the correct tactics to unsettle us. Marco needs to change his shape if we are going to get anything from this game. I think that poor passes and distribution by us is causing mistakes. Bryan is poor with his passes into danger and others because Forest are at us like whippets.

If Cooper had been at Forest from day 1 of the season it would be looking very different.

Carvalho is good but what a player Brennan Johnson is.

If Forest fluff their lines, we should throw in a 20 mill bid for this lad.

How was there only 5 minutes of injury time?

We could have had 25 and still not scored.

Thought they were bang average, got a fluky goal and just tried to hit one over the top when we lost the ball. We should have scored at least 4 but we were rubbish in front of goal and how Cav managed to shoot straight at the keeper is beyond me.

I get tired of seeing fans blaming the Referee, usually citing 'bias'. Referees make judgements, with those judgements being based on objectivity aided and abetted by the Linesmen and 4th Official. New technology like VAR (if available) means Referees have never been better equipped to be able to make the right decision. Most importantly, they have that very important thing......AUTHORITY. Of course, Players and Managers can and do make appeals and often do so vociferously - that should be allowed providing it doesn't get physical or overtly intimidating and is proportionate. Refs are human and do make mistakes - but to have comments from fans (theirs and ours) that blame ENTIRELY the outcome of the Match on the Ref.........well, I'll have no truck with that.

Some good critiquing from Fulham on the performance of us and them - and on other threads on this Forum. To those who continue to blame the outcome solely on the Ref......Fulham, others or us. You need to think about how much you can properly analyse and judge a Match when expecting the objectivity you are demanding the Referee SHOULD use at the same time.

Well said. Some referees we have had this season have definitely been incompetent but to say they are biased is pretty ridiculous. If you look at opposition fans comments for games when we have been complaining about poor decisions you invariably see they have been crap for both teams.

I’m as guilt as the next man blaming refs… in the heat of the moment it’s easy to blame. For example Luton. But if we had taken our chances that day i would have probably not been so critical. In the cold light of day we have had our fair share of decisions too- easy a foul by Surrige for our quick throw leading to the goal and a non throw in v wba leading to a goal.
In both cases though the defending side had to do better.
Us v Luton - Colback should have defended better and not have got caught out on the long diagonal in the first place!

Swansea Fans  Pre Match Comments......

The unbeaten run stretches to 10 as Cooper and his Merry Men get three points and automatic promotion robbed off them by the evil King Russell and his band of travelling Jacks assembled from several countries.

Bouremouth nearly dismantled us 3-4 after us beung 3 nil up at home....
Im a Swans fan and they are my favourites but the realist in me says we might get a draw ay Forewst but I doubt we wil do them at theirs in theoir current form

I am being slightly tongue in cheek, Forest's form is phenomenal.
However, I didn't expect us to put three past Bournemouth and I have posted my thoughts elsewhere about that.
Funny game football, if we start like we did last night, then who knows ?

He is not backing Forest mun he just believes we will not beat them he is just being a little more realistic than you.

He isn't saying anything other that stating that Forest have won their last three and we have drawn the last three.
He is just stating the form without giving his opinion.
Personally I would rather travel 203 miles on Saturday believing we will win, than spend that time thinking "What's the point ? Forest have won X number of games ?"

Of course, they are favourites but having been a Swans fan for many years ( like many ) seen countless games we weren't meant to win.

we currently sit 14th and today we play the team 3rd in the league who put 4 goals past us at home.
Our last win was 5 games ago at home....Since then we have also surrendered a 3 goal lead on two occasions to sbatch a draw from the jaws of victory...We have a key defender missing and we face an inform team with a tactically astute manager.
As always my heart says and wants a Swans win but my head given the facts points to a loss...but as many say the championship has a habit of throwing up strange results...who would have guessed we would struggle to beat Barnsley at home virtually relegated yet wd found ourselves 1nil down and rescued a point

Win for Swans then, as long as Martin now realise that with his passing out from the back and high press tactics he will need to make changes at appropriate times in the second half, the work rate required of for the centre forward and wingbacks mean they cannot maintain the same intensity for 90mins.

Given red for handball on line and pen. Ref then changed it to yellow and gave goal. If goal had been scored then ball was dead when Christie handled it. Ref Scott at his best again.

Fisher was outstanding, that save onto the post was excellent. Follow up header should have been buried, headed it right at his legs. Surridge should have got a hattrick really.

Suicidal defending, really dislike the way we play, it’s more like a time wasting exercise than a possession game.

But on the positive, when you have Piroe and Obafemi on the pitch, always in the game.

Passing around in the back drawing opposition players to put pressure on us is fine, if you got the players to do it, we haven't which costs us goals everyone can see it except Martin and his staff, there's no need to do it, draw them in further up the pitch not in our own penalty area, especially when we got a complete idiot reffing the game.

I can only hope that this playing around the back to the extent we do is for players to get used to it and using this season as a sort of practice season. Then next season we play possession football if course but more pragmatically.

I feel I’m hoping in vain though.

I'm quite happy for Naughton and Fisher just to knock it about between the pair of them for the rest of the match if Forest don't want to press. Forest are the ones who need to win?

We're dangerous but how they haven't scored at least 3 is beyond me. Fisher made some great saves but still scares me.

Saw this coming, so I took the dogs out for the afternoon, a very wise choice by the looks of it.

Surridge has come to realise that you can score goals when you stay on your feet.

As Russell keeps saying it is a process and where getting there, and so many believe him

Cooper is boring and his teams are boring, many believe that as well

No doubt Prince Charming will be in front of the media later on to say how proud he was of how 'brave' and 'courageous' we were.

End of season game with nothing to play for, seriously what did everyone expect.
Think its obvious to everyone that we need to improve defensively for next season to have a chance.

But we lost 4 -0 to Forest months ago you can not use the end of the season with nothing to play for excuse for that one, you will have to think of something else.

We are getting rid of Benda - we arent going to have any goalkeepers wtf

We are defensively poor, am assuming thats why Mark Allen has gone, the players coming in haven't been anywhere near good enough.
We have desperately needed a centre half all season, Cabango and Naughton have done okay but the 3rd spot has been dire. Same for at Left back we have nobody there.
Bennett, Smith and Hamer played the first game, a trio that hopefully we will be without next year.

So after a whole season of “transition”… this is what we have.

This is the system we have now developed over 45 league matches and decided to take into next season where many, quite rightly, want promotion.

The sooner people wake up the better. This nonsense daydream of “the process” and “the vision” is insulting.

Catch you next season maybe chaps. This is becoming hard to stomach to see such criminal under performance.

Could have been 8 or 10 and we couldn't have complained. Utterly naive, completely outclassed second half. Fisher kept us in it first half with some decent reaction stops and Surridge wearing his wellies.

We tired quicker than they did. Our players have to work harder than the opposition to accomplish less. A "proper" preseason won't fix that.

Great for Cam to get 55 minutes. Invaluable experience for the lad.

Didn't expect that performance tbh...no pressure on us....more on them..but we seemed disinterested. Not great...but we move on....

Another shocking defeat our defence is a shambles 67 goals conceded with one game to go compared to 39 last season.
Martin has not got a clue how to organise a defence.

What absolutely baffles me though is people keep defending this way of playing. I’m sure had Surridge continued to miss golden chances and we came away with a 1-1 draw people would be trying to make out “we dominated” with 70% possession away to the form team of the division.

The lack of awareness of our fan base is now frightening, either that or it’s head in the sand and fingers in the ears delusion.

Russell Martin has wasted a season with superb players at his disposal. We drop to 15th, 1 game to play.

He has learned nothing.

Christie was poor again. Doesn't look fussed. No great shakes when he is. Wolf can't beat a man. Best of luck back in Germany, Hannes. Scrappy but largely ineffectual player.

Latibeaudiere got bullied. Can't handle pace. He's improved on the possession side this season but there's a reason he's gone from standout centre half and captain for England u17s to where he is now. The outside centre halves stepping into midfield got us into trouble time and time again on the counter.

Piroe not in the game at all. Difficult for him when 50% of our possession was passing between Naughton and Fisher 20 yards inside our half. Our goal comes from a long ball from Grimes. Simple, direct stuff. It shouldn't be the first option but we have the players to do that effectively when it's on. We're slow, narrow and static and well-drilled teams can generally handle us at our single-minded best. "Swansea won't change the way they play" is criticism, not praise.

Don't get me wrong Martin has made some big mistakes over the season, but so did all of our previous managers.
He's still relatively inexperienced in management so hopefully this season has been a learning curve.
Lets hope its the first scenario, could do with cheering some of the miserable buggers on here up haha

Martinez was inexperienced when he came here but git hs promoted...Martin's managerial is similar yet after 18 months managing MKDons he only managed a mid table
