If we split the table into two half's we sit in 14th place in the home table and we sit in 5th place in the away table. Over all in the combined table we are sitting in 9th place.

At the end of the day it's the combined table that really matters though.

I don't mind that Alf our away form is better and it's probably less pressure playing away too, not that we have a lot of pressure.

The city ground has been a fortress this year and it has been rocking, they have not buckled under the pressure and have looked like they have revelled in it. I'd prefer 6 at home right now.

Yes that is why I said it's not as if we have a lot of pressure. We were bottom after 8 games and nobody expected anything this season. What is now happening is a great bonus.

In my mind I've written the Bournemouth and Fulham away games off. Basically we're 3 point off the play-offs with 8 to play.

Just treat those two games as any points from them a bonus.

Continue that form for last 10 games  ( 4 home and 6 away) would give us 18 more points and a total of 76. In most seasons that would be enough to scrape us into top 6.

This just my thoughts on the last 10 games

Blackpool (A) win =3 pts
Coventry (H) win = 3 pts
Birmingham (H) win = 3 pts
Luton (A) win (why not?) = 3 pts
West Brom (H) Win = 3 pts
Peterborough (A) Win = 3 pts
Fulham (A) Lose = 0 pts
Swansea (H) Win = 3 pts
Bournemouth (A) Draw =1 pt
Hull (A) Win = 3 pts

I can therefore see us getting another 25 points out of the possible 30, which would put us on 83 points.

The last 5 seasons have seen the play off points totals spread over the below points won. These are placed between 3rd and 6th.

2016/17 3rd on 85 to 6th on 80
2017/18 3rd on 88 to 6th on 75
2018/19 3rd on 83 to 6th on 74
2019/20 3rd on 81 to 6th on 70
2020/21 3rd on 87 to 6th on 77

If we were to finish on 83, that would certainly put us in the possible 3rd place final standings, dependant of course on other sides results etc.

It is going to be a very exciting month is April!

25 is probably the maximum we are realistically going to get but still possible. 20 odd would be reasonable based on some very winnable games and should put us comfortably into the playoffs.

I think we can acknowledge that despite having some tricky games vs Bournmouth, Fulham, WBA and Luton, the remaining 6 games are all games we would expect to win in most circumstances so we have a decent run in overall, just lots of matches compared to the other teams, could get bogged down.

Why would you write the Bournemouth away game off pap? Both Reading and Peterborough have gone to muff and have had a positive result.

Reading got a point just days after we battered them.

No reason Mari, it's just the way my mind's working. Makes our remaining fixtures seem much easier and target easier to process.

But re that game, if they are promoted by the time the game's played then it may not necessarily work in our favour. Of late they seem to be feeling the pressure. They might be much more at ease when our game comes around.

I would not rule either out - fulham on holiday hopefully while bournemouth cracking under the pressure. Out of the two sides, the weight of expectation coupled with an overrated manager makes that a compelling match.

I agree that based on where we have come from, there is less pressure on us compared to all the others who have been up there all season. If we play with that freedom then who knows.

Personally i hope we do what swansea did to us and sneak in on the last game - the trickiest thing with the play off places when this close is staying in once you get in - seems no side outside Fulham has great consistency over a 5-6 match period

I get that mate, breaking down the avenue for points is so tough,i genuinely think we get all 3 at muff after the joke of a cancellation first time around.

Yep, the cancellation of the game will be a motivating factor. I think we can do them. I think we're better than them atm, by quite a bit.

Could be interesting by the time we play Bournemouth, they have a very hard run-in and are not in the greatest form. A few slip-ups and it could get very nervy for them.
