We are already a game behind most of the top teams and the cup QF will mean another game missed and a chance for the pack to pull ahead. Games in hand only count if you win them, our two games in hand will be Fulahm away and Bournemouth away, literally could not be any tougher!
I'm just going to write off the Bournemouth and Fulham games in hand now and take it from there. I dont know when the Fulham game will be now but there's a chance they'll be promoted by the time it's played. Could be similar against Bournemouth.

I keep reading that all we need to do is pick up 2 points per game from all of our last games. I think it's going to take more than that. The other teams around us just keep on getting decent results. For example, it wouldn't surprise me if Boro went to Millwall on Saturday and won. Luton got beaten at Boro on Saturday and then went to Coventry and won last night. Great win that was for them. Sheffield got schooled by us on Friday and then stuffed Boro.
It just seems that we're incapable of outscoring our rivals as a group. There's always a team on a run. We're going to need to be the next team going on a winning run.

You realise every one of those events described apart from Sheff U (as we didn't beat them) was a win and a lose? Ie 1.5 points a game!
Teams repeatedly taking points off each other is better than 4 teams getting on a roll at the same time and pulling away.
Bournemouth look to be in trouble right now too, those games in hand aren't worth as much anymore. Frustrating we're not a little closer as top 2 would be on.

I wouldn't be surprised if the wheels came off at Bournemouth.
Poor point at home to Peterborough last night & the fans are not happy with Scott Parker.
Just checked & after they play D*rby this weekend and then Reading at home they have the following in their run in:
Huddersfield (a)
Bristol (h)
WBA (a)
Sheff U (a)
Middlesbrough (h)
Cov (a)
Fulham (h)
Swansea (a)
Blackburn (a)
Us (home for them)
Millwall (h)
I can see them dropping points against Huddersfield, Sheff U, Boro, Cov, Fulham, Blackburn & Millwall.
Come the end of the season, I wonder if they'll wish they'd played us when they had the chance last month.

But despite other clubs dropping points we always seem to be 3 to 5 points away from 6th. We've hit some kind of glass ceiling. Only once have we managed to get into the top 6 and that was because we were playing games when others weren't. We need to string some wins together now. 6 points from the next 2 games is needed imo. Sounds do-able but always harder than you think. The players could be shattered by the time the QPR game comes around. 4 points wont cut it.

Wow, that's a tricky run. Bringing all those players in in the Jan Window wont have helped their outlook. It would destroy dressing room harmony.

Yeah, stockpiling all those players might backfire. Could understand if the dropped players that got them to 2nd are unhappy. Their fans are definitely worried right now.

Yeah but that's because everyone had catch up games and now the situation has reversed. It looks worse than it is, our results have been consistently solid, just maybe a few draws that we should've won. Only lost once in 2022 though, impressive effort.

The Fulham game being rescheduled could really help us as they will no doubt already be promoted by the time we play them now if not confirmed as champions so there levels may drop to the benefit of us.

Wow, so second place is definitely not over yet then!
It's a shame we are still 10 points behind and have played a game more though. Someone like Huddersfield could actually do it then. Just shows what a run can do you in this league. Blackburn and QPR will be kicking themselves as they have gotten near then faltered, same with Boro to a lesser extent.
Exciting finish to come, lets make sure we can take care of our own business this weekend. Had 5 days to recover from the cup game so should be fresh enough.
