You're right there Sniff. Red card behaviour is not acceptable and needs to stop but I still want him to continue wounding the opposition up. He's good at that and it helps the team.

The red card is a yes but by the letter of the law, we should have been awarded a free kick in the area as Fletcher barged Samba as he moved towards the edge of the area and this took place before Samba hit him, so there should not have a been a double whammy of a penalty.

Having watched it back this morning, this does seem to be correct. Doubt it would've changed the result in the end though

Right, what happened is done now. Yes he can be a clown and he has allowed himself to be wound up which other teams will have seen.
However I main he is the best keeper we have had in a long time and the antics work both ways. Didnt we love the shithousing antics which get under the skin of opponents? Maybe that in itself has won us a few points. Absolutely Cooper needs to have a proper word with him though.

On to Horvarth, lets hope he can deliver. The one game he had his dithering with the ball at his feet was the problem, again hope he has learned the hard way. He was brought here to be serious competition as No1 keeper, maybe he can live up to to it.

Theres no denying the man has a bit of talent but even Cooper got p****d off with him after the Barnsley game. I think we rely on quick counter attacking and all Samba wanted to do is lie down on the ball or argue with everyone including his own teammates.  Of the few games I've seen of Forest I'm sure he wasn't this bad.

There's a time and place for the 'pantomime' antics.  Vs Derby he got it 'right.'  (Though Clough would be spinning in his grave.)

Cooper clearly wants his keeper to lead the attack from the back.  Quick release and get Forest's counter attack and Brennan's afterburner's going.

He doesn't want his keeper a***ing around when there is a game to be won and Barnie were there to be put to the sword.

Should have thumped these tin pot wannabes 5-6 goals to nil.

Barnie got their bloody nose in the end and it's been a long time coming.

Completely agee. I love Brice and Vs D*rby it was brilliant. Wound them up, took the pressure off us, thank you very much. (Although when I saw my 78 year old dad the next day he did say, "Can someone please tell our goalie to stop mucking around?" - old school.)

I did catch the interview with Cooper after Barnsley & I wonder if the result and fan adulation after Sat went to Brice's head a bit (in addition to Lawrence's shin)? Hopefully Cooper has taken him aside and the fast breaks and counter attacks are there for all of us to see on Sunday.

P.S some of Brice's passes out from the back in the last couple of games have been sensational. I think I remember on Tues that the Sky commentator went out of his way to praise.

"Can someone please tell our goalie to stop mucking around?" - how right my dad was. This was coming & whilst Brice's antics can be great when they go well, yesterday was a shocker. We've now got to rely on Horvath in 3 huge games. He might do well, but Brice has put us at a huge disadvantage until March. We might get away with it, or it could cost us all momentum.

Some of his keeping this season has been magnificent & his saves have won us points, but I haven't this frustrated/let down/angry with a Forest player in a long time.

Fortunately enough I can imagine the management of Horvath this week will be handled expertly & we have such a great never say die spirit that hopefully this won't cost us too much.

Horvath did well in the league cup games - just had a mare in his league game with the short pass.
I actually think he was quick and decent with his feet and playing out but this was at odds with Hughton.
For me he should have played in the cup games for sharpness

Those of you that think he is a liability and we could do so much better please tell me how many out of the list above are better than Samba? Where are all these better keepers in the EFL? How many of the above were making these “standard saves that any decent keeper would make”.

Possibly De Vries was decent for 1 season. Darlow went on to be OK but he had some right shockers in his time here. Dont get me started on the rest, check out the Youtube vid of Villa v Forest in the 5-5 game, we had Pants in goal, he didnt so much as move for 3 of the goals, shocking keeper.

Yep Samba infuriates me at times too, actually his mistake vs Leicester annoyed me more than today because it was deliberately casual. Absolutely he needs a serious bollocking for today but he has saved us on many games this season and he is the best keeper on that long list above in my opinion and certainly one of the best in the Championship.

Samba is very very naturally gifted, probably more so than any of those mentioned above.

He is very inexperienced still and if he learns from this and comes back better for it, then a very bright future ahead for him and us.

It was a red card but the big strong tough centre back Jagielka looked like a right idiot too and should feel embarrassed. I'm a bit old school and think Cloughie would be unimpressed by both players actions-as was I.

Just reading back some old posts on this thread, it's interesting to see that he's still doing the same things as before. On the one hand he makes some fantastic stops that other keepers probably wouldn't make (every time) however he still throws in the odd howler.

I'd actually thought prior to this little spell that he'd seemed to cut down on the errors while retaining his shot stopping ability. 

Overall, it feels like the excellent shot stopping still outweighs the errors but it would be great if he could just tone it down a bit. Maybe this will be a wake up call.

Regardless, there is no opportunity to make a change until the summer (if that's what they decide to do). So until that point I imagine Samba is our best chance of success this season. So we should get behind him and worry about his issues in the summer. Fans support, particularly at home will really help him make less mistakes

For me it is very STRAIGHTFORWARD. Horvath now has his opportunity and he must step up to the plate.

Samba could easily have been injured at some stage this season and had to miss 3 games so Horvath has to be ready and the club have to be confident in him. If he wasnt up to the job then he will have been replaced in Jan. The big frustration for me is that this is an entirely a self inflicted situation.

Horvath will be fine. May well give SC a decision to make when Samba is available again.

Cooper didn't dig him out to the media after the game but that's not to say he didnt in the dressing room. There's the occasional glimpse of frustration with Samba on the touchline from Cooper but nothing excessive. Be interesting to see if Cooper feels he can do better in the summer or whether he feels he can deal with him.
