I work with plenty of Forest fans and they are getting really cocky after Sunday, but to be fair Lester didn’t turn up.

I wouldn't take Powell off. The problem is we're away from home, so he's playing a bit deeper but still taking the same risks as he would further up the pitch. Also Forest are strong on the counter-attack. He just needs to be a bit more conservative away from home.

Powell has had 2 poor games on the trot, its a testiment to the rest of the team, that he isnt getting pelters, but he is no longer our best player, sorry but he isnt. I wanted DWP to replace him after 60 mins, suddenly he isnt "our best player" and I can imagine that is where the contract conversations start. Dont be fooled, I live in Notts, and they are on fire, they beat both Arsenal and Leicester ( there local rivals) in recent weeks, gone from second bottom to the play offs, they are not a bad side, they are under a manager that is known to be pragmatic, methodical, and astute and an ugly bastasrd that is the only manager i would swap MON for. We done well today and I will be f*****g shocked if we dont get in the playoffs.

And that today is the difference between a play off contender and what we are. No killer instinct and complete failure to hold onto a lead, I mean we aren’t talking about 30 odd minutes, we are talking about 3 or 4 minutes. Reading, Cardiff (shitshow), Fulham, Forest. I'd have taken a point at the start. We're not going to make the playoffs but putting together a side that can finish the season strongly and set up next year is still important.

Disappointing a bit, but we are not down and out just yet. Like Huddersfield, Forest fluked an undeserving draw. And all this, despite some utter stupidity from their goalie, Brice Samba (who actually is a good keeper), could have cost Forest dearly. I was not happy to see Clucas and Fletcher on. I would have preferred DWP and Moore instead.

Not had time to read every post but seen enough,how come Stoke fans can`t be happy to get a point at Forest? Form team thrashed Leicester last weekend beat Blackburn away mid-week and still some find fault. Mistakes were made but you show me anyone who does not make mistakes and i will show you someone who does very little.

Great day, gutted as thought the least we deserved was a point regardless of the decision. Plenty to be positive about, got a good team now. Think we can really push on next season with a couple more signings.
Still think we can get close to playoffs this season but ultimately our form since November has cost us. But not many teams would of gone to Forest and played as well as we did. Baker is the signing of the season for me, what a player we have on our hands for free.

I think MoN is making progress at Stoke

He joined us with one foot already in division one and massive debts, blocking the signing of proven players

He has made the team younger and our performances more ambitious and more entertaining

He has established us in the championship and started putting a smile on fans faces,

Our a results are still a little hit and miss , but he has made huge progress , on where we were , when he walked in to the club ,

I went to the match with my family who are all die-hard Forest fans, which was interesting story in itself.  According them Samba is total head-case, which explains why he isn’t playing at a higher level.  He is a good shot stopper, has safe hands and good distribution but he is very susceptible to the occasional rush of shit to the brain.  He has never been interviewed on tv and radio, which is potentially telling as well.

When I heard it was Jagielka not Fletcher I did wonder if he'd been winding Samba up about the Derby fracas the other week. I know Jagielka didn't play in it but I bet some of his Derby mates told him about it.

PNE Fans Pre Match Comments......

Only thing to do after yesterday is look at what the lessons are and move on to the next match.

Well the main lesson is probably that as has been pointed out elsewhere the wing-back system is just to negative for home matches. Time to go four at the back so:

*do we switch van den Berg to right back or keep him in the centre and give Diaby a go there or even the opposite way round?
*do we give Bauer a rest and start Lindsay in the centre?
*do we keep the Browne, Whiteman, Johnson trio in midfield or shake it up a bit by maybe starting Ledson in place of Whiteman or really shake it up by
starting McCann in place of Browne as well?
*based on yesterday Archer and Sinclair deserve to keep their places so do we start Evans or persist with the slightly misfiring Riis?

So maybe:

Iversen

Diaby, van den Berg, Lindsay, Hughes

Browne, Ledson, Johnson

Sinclair, Evans, Archer

Whatever the main thing will be that the team start with the energy they showed in the last 30 minutes yesterday.

I don't think the wing-back system is too negative for home matches, it's just pointless using it though if you've got no wing backs.

I think Sepp at right back and Diaby in the middle would be more likely than Diaby playing right back.

I can’t see us changing the system from the start which has got us 20 points from 12 games.
I’d make a few changes to freshen it up a bit and let the players know that there is competition for places.

Sepp is a centre-half.

I think he would be good enough to play right back. Personally after the debacle on Saturday I would drop him and Bauer. They both need a kick up the backside imo.

Sepp has been a consistent 7 or 8/10 for us this season. 1 bad performance should not result in him being dropped.

I would like to see McCann, ledson, Browne in the midfield.

I’d like to see Diaby get a shot to.

433 at home would be good to see until we have natural wingbacks. Though tbh Hughes looked decent going forward yesterday and put in some decent crosses.

Think people are putting too much in Diaby being a RB. As far as I’m aware he’s only played CB, think Lowe mentioned it as being a “if necessary” type thing because of his pace

Hasn’t played football in two years, why are people putting him in the position which requires the most running on the pitch

I wish people would stop going on about systems. No system on earth would have prevented the debacle against Reading.
1. Iron out mistakes.
2. Learn to pass to players who should be on the move.
3. Learn about weight of pass.
4. Anticipate opponent movements.
5. Read the game as a move progresses.
6. Make better decisions under pressure and don't panic
In other words lets get the basics right before we start on fiddling with more complex stuff like formations.

The issue for me isnt who we play or in what formation but Who forest play up their right (Spence et al0 and who the ehck we have that can stop them...!!! the rest wont matter if they destroy our left side defence......

I'd probably ask McCann to try to help out Hughes on that side.... maybe in a 4 4 2....using Lindsay and Diaby at CB with Sepp RB and Potts RM...

Archer and Evans to start up top, Sinclair to come on.... Centre mid is 'perm any of the remaining 4' but I doubt Browne will be fit.

One potential plus for us will be the Notts Forest keeper being suspended.

Whenever I've seen him, he looks really dodgy. Capable of a good save then hes just very clumsy and very mistake prone.

Let's hope we can get some shots on target.

We only managed 2 goals against the worst defence in the division. Forest have the 5th best defence in the division.

I'd like us to ditch 352 and try something else (though I doubt Lowe will do it, especially as Forest also play 352).

Their away form has been good but they looked awful at Cardiff the other week, even Hugill scored.

They'll have a sub keeper in, so we need to make him work, and target Steve "he's shit" Cook in defence with some pace up front:

If Diaby is deemed ready to start, we could move vdB to right back.

If we stick with 352, maybe Murphy will be ready for a game - we've tried everybody else at LWB.

I expect Forest to line up in a 3-5-2. With proper mobile wingbacks in Spence and Lowe, who can dominate the flanks. And a pairing of Johnson and Davies up top who'll be a lot to handle.

We were well beaten by a decent Forest team who were on top throughout. We only managed one shot on target. Thought Spence was unplayable at times quite remarkable that Boro let he leave on loan.

Beaten in individual battles all over the park. No outfield player can come out if that game and say they got the better of their man
Ref looked like Pa Larkin and referred like him. Didn’t cost us the game but his one eyed referring didn’t help.

Two deflected goals didnt help and the Ref was so petty and favoured NF, every time they fell over he gave them a free kick, saying that though we were bloody awful and didnt deserve anything from the game

Being comfortably beaten away by a clearly better side is one thing. Being very comfortably beaten by the team in 9th doesn’t sound so promising.

In a game without a single serious foul or a handball how ever did we end up with four yellow cards? The ‘Darren Bond is the worse ref in the Championship’ Facebook page might have a bit of traffic tonight!

A game to forget and fair play to Forest who looked a good side, don't forget they have beaten much better sides than us this season. They should be the benchmark for where we want to be in 12 months time

We can take the losses, but to be outclassed in all areas (except goalkeeping maybe as we didn't test theirs enough to judge) is hard to take.
