On this day 15/12 in 1976 Forest were winning the first silverware of the Brian Clough era. Forest became Anglo Scottish cup winners in front of just 12,717 sectators with a 4-0 win over Orient after a 1-1 draw in the first leg just a few days earlier. Two goals from Colin Barrett and one apeice for Chapman and Bowyer saw the reds lift the trophy. Team Middleton Anderson Clark McGovern Lloyd Chapman O'Neill Barrett Bowery Bowyer Robertson.

I was there on that night. I dont remember too much about it though.

Not many Centre Forwards would want to tangle with our 2 centre halves back in the day. Sammy was one of my favourite players at the time. A good no nonsense solid defender.

Great to see Bert Bowery mentioned. Suppose that must be his son playing now at Mansfield. He was a powerful player who upset many a centre half back then.

Nearly as bizarre as when all the press were briefed that Karanka was being sacked that evening after …errr….beating Leeds 4-2 on boxing day 2019.
