"The Town wasn't too bad today, some times you have to give the other team credit. Forest were very good today.
As has been said they were really up for it, obviously had something to prove. They have some very good players and they all gave 100%. First goal was an excellent quick break, great cross and an unstoppable header by Grabban. Second goal we were slow restarting the second half and messed up a clearance, they were sharp and clinical to make us pay. Forest thoroughly deserved the win. Quicker, stronger and better on the ball all over the park." Gracious in defeat. Forest did to Huddersfield what alot of sides, so far, had done to Forest. We made the opposition worry about 'us.' Barnsley Fans Comments, mostly after match, they are a bit mixed up.........
Cole not even on bench now! Great signings him and sick note! Watched Forest the other day after Hughton left and they were very good if they play the same tonight they will expose the space on the counter attack like they did when I saw them and beat us tonight! Just watching on ifollow. There's nobody there. No control, wide open, shambles. Florist switched system, Schopp had no idea how to combat it? His tactics don't work it's clear the players are not comfortable with how he wants us to play! He needs sacking tonight so we can get someone in before it's too late! Couldn’t get to the match so watching on Red Button. On 1st Half showing. ……. …… we are a 1st Division team. No doubt about that. Defence isn’t playing as a unit - it’s all over the place - can you remember when we stepped up last season and caught strikers offside. That’s gone !!! Why the hell is Moon playing before Sibbick. Moon is constantly losing his marker. First time I’m saying - Helik is having a very poor game. Midfield doing a lot of running about but getting nowhere. Strikers - no physical strength. Woodrow having a nightmare (poor layoff gets Palmer booked) - but he gets a penalty. Thank God we are playing Notts Forest. Any other team would have scored 3 by now. If we don’t change things or up our game Forest will win this. Dear me that was truly abysmal tonight. Am almost lost for words how shyte that was. At half time I was angry with the performance despite being 1 nil up. I watched us at Blackpool on a foreign TV channel and declined to comment on this forum because that was crap also. The head coach clearly doesn't have a connection with the players. His tactics are very questionable. He can't change the way a game is going. The players look confused as to doing what he's asking of them and are embarrassingly all over the place. Schopps message should be starting to come through by now loud and clear but we are getting worse game by game. It's worrying. I'd sack him personally. Its not like me to say such a thing after a short space of time but the guy looks uninspiring and out of his depth. Sorry Markus but it's time tha got thi hat n coyt. That's the first game I've seen this season and was unable to attend Oakwell due to back problems. I now' understand what you've all been saying. Having Morris or Obbi available won't change that. I couldn't understand what we were trying to do or how we were trying to play. Certain players were doing their best (Kitching stood out) but even at half time I wasn't happy with the performance. You could see how Forest were going to score their goals and we did nothing to nullify that. Not good enough after 10 games and I can't see the manager surviving this one, and it's not like me to not give someone a chance. Interesting to see iseka and Gomes discussing something when walking off at the end of the match - they clearly weren't happy with something regarding our play. I read a lot on this board yesterday about how much Steve Cooper is hated by members on here. Well after last night I would say that at least he can read a game and change tactics to win one. Wish I could say the same about our head coach. I don't hate him. He comes across well sometimes. And he seems tactically aware. I mean he looks a bit funny, but hey, if looks were a guide to being employed I'd be currently claiming dole. Looks like he's chewing an onion through a tennis racket I'd have given him the Barnsley job, at least he knows how to win at Oakwell.. He's out thought us five times now? I think he's a pretty good coach. I don’t like him and his style but you have to accept he is a competent manager. Wouldn’t be high on my list and I doubt he would have come to us but he would be a huge improvement of Schopp Speaking after our 3-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening, Markus Schopp believes that his side’s desire to kill the game off was a major factor in our second half collapse. They had a five minute spell in the first half where we seemed to lose all shape and concentration. But they were hardly carving us up at will. I only remember the diagonal shot from the edge of the box that went past the post unless I'm deliberately forgetting as much about last night as I can? They had a couple of other dangerous moves but we defended well and they never created anything (a bit like us at the other end!). We were devoid of ideas and confidence from the kick off, we need strikers who can hold the ball and a midfield. No one wants to get hold of the ball and pass it to each other. They were tearing us apart on the break throughout long before they scored, if the manager can’t see that there’s no hope Forest counter attacks killed us. We were in a great attacking position, Frieser loses the ball and a few seconds later they are down the other end scoring. Victor in front of goal too scared to shoot, loses the ball and a few seconds later they have scored. No messing around by Forest when it comes to getting from one end of the pitch to the other in super quick time I don’t think either of them were offside. Freeze frame of the first shows the player clearly onside, and on the second I believe (but haven’t seen a replay yet) that as soon as we touched the ball a new phase of play started - hence the flag going up and then down. Might be wrong on that but I think it’s part of the stupid new offside rules. Not one I agree with at all. Neither were offside, but even if they were it was still an absolute abomination of a second half performance. What Schopp sees I don’t know, because he didn’t see what was obvious to the 12000 odd in attendance, the sky commentators or the thousands of viewers at home. To not change shape and strengthen the middle of the park, at least in numbers, was criminal. I don’t care whether they were offside or not - that’s just not good enough. The fact they were actually onside just compounds it.

It was a bad night, there's no escaping that. I've conflicting emotions after seeing that.
There are compounding factors as to where we are now. And they can't be ignored. Our core team has changed massively from last season and that has changed what we're able to do. Just look at the front 3. A front 3 of Morris, Woodrow and Dike gives an opposition defence many more headaches. The press worked better with Mowatt and Chaplin involved and Ismael organising it. Our set pieces looked more effective with Mowatt delivery, Helik and Mads in tandem, along with Morris and Dike causing disruption. Then we have the huge change in organisation on and off the field. Fitness, analysis, coaching, management, captaincy and experience all being negatively impacted. Our recruits, though far too early to judge accurately have failed to make the impact Brittain, Morris and Dike had. The replacements have all been thrown in at the deep end at the same time, and the coaching set up around the new head coach probably isn't what he'd ideally like. So thats the backdrop we're having to endure. Throw in covid, niggly injuries and the call for experience being met with very young kids again and it doesn't make for a settled picture. Having said that, the players we do have are looking a shadow in terms of energy and drive. They are running. But with less intensity. There were signs that Helik, Moon, Williams J and Palmer all gave up at certain times after they'd lost the ball, given it away or had been beaten and wrong sided. Thats unimaginable just a few months ago. The back 3 is an absolute shambles. What's happened to Helik? He doesn't look interested and played key parts in the goals against but didn't seem to make up for it. And either side you've two players finding their way. Eager but hugely inexperienced. The result is a lack of definition of roles, shape and integrity. A high line with no recovery pace, and no midfield pressure on the ball. It's a disaster waiting to happen. We had moments where we looked like we had some momentum. But when one simple pass or flick causes such damage, there is something fundamentally wrong and momentum can be lost in an instant. It did 3 times to some of the most embarrassingly easy goals I've seen, though that does discredit the pace, accuracy and drive that the Forest front 3 showed in the latter second half. But perhaps the most dispiriting thing for me was to see Schopp abandon what he'd done against Stoke and mostly against QPR. Instead i saw a man who threw away his philosophy for one he doesn't respect or believe in and let it run for the best part of 90 minutes in a homage and desperate hope his predecessors influence could find something to get his team some points. And as a result, he could never possibly expect to mimic it successfully. We're still early in the season, it's worrying for sure, but I've sympathy for Schopp. He's had everything mentioned to contend with without his preferred coaching team, the experience stripped out of the team and into a championship with fans in grounds and the added pressure. I don't think getting rid of Schopp is the answer. But he needs to be brave and be the coach he believes himself to be. If 3-4-3 is something he can't make work, use the system you want to use. Be brave. Or events will overtake you. They may well do anyway.

good stuff, can't beat a never ending post mortem where everything seems to of stopped breathing even when they were 1 nil up, amazing, painfully honest soul searching at it's best

Clearly at an early juncture the Forest game takes on a little significance. If all goes wrong tomorrow and the weekend results don't pan out well we could be doing the yearly over the shoulder looking downwards again. I really think changing personnel is not going to change that most teams set up having scouted each other early doors has seen that either our set up is easy to counter act or our playing staff ain't that good. QPR done a job on Chong tonight, on him like a shot. I do remember the Stoke game he missed how we had no real maverick go to guy to drive the team and make stuff happen. Deeney is struggling to settle and being subbed in less than an hour may indicate a bit of this and perhaps Bowyer not thinking he a good match at present. I dare say we have to factor in QPR are a pretty good side and fancied by many for automatic. The signs are there for a struggle if we lose a key player or two and the forwards not getting their act together. Bela may be good going forward but defensively he's a liability and I still think a stint up front with his pace and trickery may help. I would keep Deeney on the bench for Saturday and tell him and the rest of the squad to get some serious fitness work over the international break. To be honest him talking us up as automatic reminded me of my brothers blues opinions he goes once a season and before every match he genuinely thinks we will win the game and before every season starts he thinks we will win the title. I think Bowyer should go back to his favoured 4312, it is a bit annoying him being stubborn with the set up at present Square pegs in square holes at the back Deeney needs to be an impact sub. Hogan needs to be put out to pasture. Idle, weak and contributes nothing. Safe to say im not a fan Gardner suspended and Chong ineffective the last 4 games now. Need to go a flat back 4 and Pedersen probably out. Back we come to Stans for the challenge of Forest, I'll go 3-1 Blues with Colin as FGS. Can just see the implosion already Blues 0 Forest 1 FGS Lolley obviously Blues 0 Forest 2 Lolley 2-1 the Blue machine Forest are S**t Chong FGS 1-0 Forest Grabban A scrappy match with a scrappy goal from Hogan. Blues 1-0 Big game for us and one we need to win. Forest running into a bit of form. My worry is teams have worked us out, we lack the ability to score despite making chances and our defence is inconsistent. 1-1. Deeney

Lolley?
Much fear I sense in them. SA.

Lolley is going to knock one in the top corner today. They are right to be wary.

Sanderson back on bench seems strange to me. Graham on there too. Are we just spinning the bottle and hoping it doesn't land in the same place mentality, playing probabilities ?? Seems like it why drop Sanderson? will he take off Jucks and Hogan for Deeney and Aneke again? i was hoping we might see McGree or Graham, still we'll see. Might be 442 with Bela and Chong wide. Or at least the option of switching. Things aren't looking good, are they. Started strong, putting them under pressure and Chong has hit post There's the customary Grabban goal. Just the Spade face Lolley goal to come. Gonna have to score 3 here. Well against the run of play, but S**t mistake. Feel like I've seen this game before. 0-1 broke on 3 against 2 and we've fcuked it up again Just can't score can we, just missed another from Dean 14yds out hit it wide. Playing well again for the most part but teams just letting us now knowing at some point they'll be able to break on us and more than likely score Juke hits the post now! And now Hancock hits the beer. What a fcuk up We are an absolute shambles at the back. 2-0 what the Fcuks going on, can't score can't defend, unbelievable. Time to start looking over our shoulders It’s absolutely crap being a Bluenose isn’t it? All we do is suffer continuous humiliation. Take the fcuking so called Captain off the pitch, Dean you are an embarrassment today and the other 30 games during a season The questions against Bowyer are only going to grow, to keep getting done defensively in similar fashion shows there's a problem there and in all fairness it doesn't appear anything has been done to address it, that's down to the manager and coaches. Hogan goal ruled out for offside, good work by Juke setting him up Can anyone explain what has happened to us? I’ve not been able to see the majority of games this season. We looked half decent in the first few games but we’ve completely gone to S**t so suddenly. Why? Time and again they are getting in down the channel. Which teams have been doing with great success for the past 5 games or so. Everyone seems to be able to see it but Bowyer. Old man Lee Bowyer looks like senile pensioner lost in a footballing world in an oversized rain coat You watch the old man take Hogan off for the second 45 Let's see what Bowyer does the second half if he has any idea, dump Dean for Sanderson would be a good start. No changes at half time….. the 4 clowns at the back walk back on the pitch, spineless Bowyer !! Another 45 minutes thinking we’ll claw back 2 goals maybe 3 for the win we are clueless 0-3 and too easy again, run at us and we just back off until you're in shooting range And still stands there doing nothing…… Karanka with a side parting Worst thing is after this match is an international break, they’ll go away for 2 weeks so called working on it and the shite 4 will appear next match Bowyer needs to look at himself, our players aren't terrible at al, he's said himself we have good players but the way he'ss setting us up and I don't just mean formation we're just getting pumped now game after game. It's not all bad, we've played some decent stuff and we DO have players with ability but this just aint right and time for him to look at it and make changes going forward, there's clearly a pattern now. Deeney signing obviously not Bowyers choice, Gardner went off on one for the fans, to have Aneke come off the bench before Deeney speaks volume Deeney has been pretty poor in all honesty. A cracking player in his day and a smashing bloke but he's as mobile as a training cone these days. It all feels a lot like when we signed Craig Gardner again. Sounds like the ref is having a mare giving us nothing, How the shite 4 are still on the pitch is a joke, to put a performance like this time and time again and not get hauled off tells me that LB doesn’t control the dressing room A poor defence that constantly cause us to chase the game with a forward line that persistently shoot blanks
02-10-2021, 07:45 PM
Pedersen header off the line, he just can’t defend
Free kick on the D great position. Deeney Juke and Chong looking, Chong takes keeper saved PATHETIC Superb save by Samba in the forest goal blues shots today 18 to forest's 11 and we've had 9 on target to their 7 It's not all bad but there's clearly a problem with our shooting accuracy and despite the good that we're doing it's leavng us too open at the back and the honeymoon is over for Bowyer, time to sort it. nearly 4 then Clueless manager, clueless back 4, very good Forest keeper, S**t ground that’s falling down, no fans probably a good thing, pathetic Captain and a dithering old man in an oversized raincoat Must do something about the central defenders. Probably didn’t have the best of luck at the top, goal disallowed, woodwork hit twice and an inspired keeper. 2 weeks to work on the defence. These current two must be changed, although I'm not overly confident 2 others will be an improvement. Sanderson certainly should be, but not convinced Friend is the answer Going forwards we weren’t that bad woodwork twice and tight offside goal we also had two good second half chances. Hogan was unfairly subbed in my opinion as well. Something is not right at the moment the hundred mile an hour in your face heart and desire wasn’t there and ain’t really been evident in last few games. As a Bowyer team it’s a given that your team will come out and be first to every ball. Forest were first to everything. Them four defenders all have to go we are never going to get anywhere allowing this October to February missing in action every fuckin season! Bowyer found an early season formula which appears to have been worked out by everyone we play. When 3rd went I found myself wanting it to be 6 so they get humiliated and maybe this wakes them up. We have a break now and when they return if it’s the same as this then it’s a definite relegation fight. Worra shite afternoon of football, we've lost 3-0 but their keeper was man of the match. I think the manager and the captain have let the rest of the team down today. Bowyer for persisting with a system that Stevie Wonder could see has been sussed out weeks ago and Harlee for his organisation of that defence that kept getting caught out and his general shambolic performance. That said, the rest of the team still did a few things right and should have scored a couple today. Glad there's an international break now, as it gives us a bit of time to work on something new. A big couple of weeks ahead for Bowyer. Good first 10 mins , uf first time we hit post a diff game. Fell vebibd ti a good strike after chong givibg it away in crucial area. Then fell apart, should of been 3 down at halftime tbh. Needs alot of work and gonna be a long season. Was surprised that sanderson was dropped, as been the best if a bad bunch if cbs lately. Id seriousley give sanderson friend pedersen ago if gonna oersist with 3 at the back. Football woeful. Defending woeful. Dean and Roberts woeful.Finishing woeful. Substitutions woeful. Referee woeful. Atmosphere woeful. My day woeful. All in all, woeful. Best way I can put it Lee Bowyer go buy an A4 pad of paper, spend the next two weeks scribbling some footballing formations and tatics down, have the bollocks to drop Dean, Roberts and Pedersen, change the captain
02-10-2021, 10:08 PM
cheers Joe, Brum played very well particularly early in the game and even after we scored they kept trying hard, i mean that left hand post played a blinder 1st half and Samba was acknowledged by a few of them as being mom
if it was a one off any supporter would of seen they weren't 3.0 bad they had many gilt edged chances but it's part of a longish run now, but in a way that makes there performance more commendable, they were desperately unlucky but we look like we can score gatling gun style, especially away against sides over committing, out of luck and known vulnerabilities it's a cruel funny old game, when is the last time we've been 2.0 up at HT? years?
