I don’t, hence his current strategy.

It is common knowledge that we are short in a number of areas; Murphy has two choices, he signs players for those positions or he runs with things as they are and gets us relegated.

If he needs to sell to finance incoming that is exactly what he should do.

If anyone thinks there will be a line of managers beating the CEOs door down for the job under the current circumstances, they are deluded.

Our current position after three games is totally self inflicted; Barnsley looks like a flash in the pan; this job looks too big for him.

The guy has been in the door 2 minutes, and to be fair the players he has actually signed have been of good quality. Let him finish the job, if you think it will take 1 window you are sadly mistaken. This is a 4 window rebuild at the very least.

So the people who think that the signings are of Hughton's doing are completely wrong, they are Murphy signings; I will let you break the bad news to them.

Personally I could not care less who scouted the players I just want them signing; we started the season with a target of 8 or 9 and have signed 3, and that is the fault the of the guy who does all of the negotiating.

He gets the big bucks for taking the big decisions; so far the only decision he has made is to do nothing.

The players we need are for the here and now, to get us through this season; he can take 4 windows or as many as he likes to build a squad capable of winning something, but he will not get that luxury in League 1.

And if you think we are not heading there, I would say respectfully, you are sadly mistaken.

Just sack the lot and give up now because a change in strategy cannot be implemented within 6 weeks. Then the lights off and send everybody home.

You nor I have a clue what the budget is or what were trying to do. I'm merely pointing our that the quality of signings that has been made under the CEO's watch have been quality. If he continues doing that we will be alright.

As far as I'm aware the window is not shut yet either.

That's quite correct but how many games do we have to lose before he starts doing his job?

Its not like he was starting from scratch; Gary Brazil and his team have done all of the hard work; all he needs to do is negotiate.

That is if it is convenient for him.

He has his own thoughts, Chris brass and syrianos only just in too, you cannot put a complete recruitment plan in 6 weeks it takes time. That is where we will have to be patient.

I'll be coming back to you at the end of the window. Signing a player is not that simple, and in 6 weeks a bet he has not even had the chance to fully go through our books to know exactly what we can do.

Sounds like he is doing his job or trying too. Unfortunately he is not doing it with an open cheque book. But I think we can discuss this on the 1st of September a little further.

It's been interesting reading some of JCK's posts from the last couple of days.

He's a poster who I have great respect for.

He's got me thinking about Murphy.

Is he lacking experience? He's not very old and he had just 2 seasons at Barnsley one which was a success and one that was almost a complete disaster.

Is he out of his depth at Forest? A club with high demands and expectations compared with Barnsley who's demands and expectations are low.

What about his contacts in the game? I know Vrentzos was far from perfect but his contacts in football are massive, can we say the same about Dane?

This post is not critical in anyway I just want to put it out there for debate because JCK has really got me thinking with some of his comments recently.

How can we possible judge this yet ? The bar is low from my perspective on previous recruitment. The market being slow is not down to Murphy.

Not sure we can use the excuse that the market is slow for not having already signed a left back or Striker to be honest.

Remember the last guy had 8 windows and left us in this hole too for balance please. Let's see where we are in 8 windows time with Murphy in terms of judging recruitments.

The last CEO left us short during a few of those windows too, then role reversed it last summer by buying a whole new squad. Just remember who we bought in when we were going for it under lamouchi.....

Murphy has a budget to work with that none of us know what it is, he has barely had time to think about the finances in the time he has been here. Jumping on him after 6 weeks is nothing short of ridiculous in my book. The players he as brought in so far have been a class above of what were used too. So let's settle down and see how he does.

I want to stress again that I am not being critical but I am putting it out there for debate.

They're the same people though. Vrentzos is still on the board.

The last CEO was responsible for a lot of bad things, not least the waste of signing the likes of Arter, Jenkinson and Bong; for balance, he was also responsible for a lot of good things: we are financially sound compared to most clubs in our Division for example.

Another example of the good work Vrentzos did was the situation regarding player contracts expiring at the end of last season and at the end of this season; most of the hard work had been done, all that the new guy had to do was sign some replacements, and lets face it, some of the replacements would not have to be great to be better than those who have just gone.

Everyone at the Club and amongst the support base were aware how badly resourced we were/are as a squad, everyone that is apart from the CEO - well, that is the impression given from the casual nature of our recruitment.

I am not entertaining any facile arguments about perceived budgets; if Murphy does not have the headroom in the budget handed down to him, he certainly has valuable resources he can trade with; these are the big decisions that CEOs have to make, that is why they get the big bucks.

I am not entertaining any facile arguments about how many windows he needs to shape the squad; the FACTS are he has just the two to save us from relegation; yes, things are that bad.

And I will tell you what; if Murphy has anything of substance about him that can back up his reputation, he will agree with every word of that.

You can fix what he has been left with in one window is somewhat ambitious in my eyes and somewhat unreasonable on Murphys part considering the hand he has been dealt. I'd say a pair of 6's at best.

In terms of assets he can sell, but someone has to buy, but on that note and you do make some very valid points I may add too that this window would of been very different had Worrall gone to Brentford as we thought he would. But that fell through and nobody has matched it since or even tried matching it. Do you think it would of been a different window had that sale gone through?

With the likes of jenkinson and arter on the contracts they were put on by the previous CEO makes it a very difficult window.
