Obviously, needs must. But Yates is never a CB in a million years. A lot to be said for the use of analytics in football. But that idea ignores the fundamental requires of a CB, such as how a player shapes up.

Yates plays so square on, he isn't someone to play with his body open, ready to drop off to push forward. He stands square on to the ball, full throttle to win his battle.

Requirements of a CB are so different from what Yates has. One of the best parts of his game is his energy and desire/ability to get up and down and attack the penalty box.

Is the fact we are absolutely out on our feet in both games so far down to simply having missed 2 preseason games though? Looks like there is more of a general fitness issue to me.

Yes SA, agree, we have a lot of youngsters in both games. Should be said they have performed very well for the most part.
