Just checked and he started the last match against Girona but was subbed at half time, yes it’s swings and round abouts (as they lost 3-0) but quit with the negative narrative. The match before he was subbed on at 76 minutes and the match before that he was subbed off after 72 minutes.
Haven't they played the second leg since then though. I also read somewhere what SL wrote above.
Okay fair point, apart from the last game where he didn’t play, etc etc what I said earlier but Almerias manager made 4 subs at half time if you can’t pick your best 11 in the tie of your life then damn you deserve not to win.

Or hopefully Carvalho will pull himself together and buckle down and stop acting like a fanny.

Yes, he just needs to show it a lot more often not once every 10 games.

There’s clearly a player there, if he could just find that bit of consistency and show the quality on a more regular basis then he would be an asset.

He needs to grow a backbone first!!!
IMO he is way too squeamish for the Championship. He pulls out of tackles and never drops back to defend where the challenges are needed.
Yes he does have 'that moment of magic' in there but can we seriously afford to carry a player for 6 or 7 games for that one moment of magic? Playing with 10 men 6 or 7 times every two months certainly isn't going to get us too far up the table is it?
I hate to say it but Joao reminds me of Justin Fashanu in some ways. The potential appears to be there but getting it to fruition on the pitch is altogether different

Some people making stuff up to suit their own agenda again.
Where do you get turning up once in 6, 7 or 10 games from?
In 18/19 he scored 4 goals and 8 assists in 28 starts and 10 sub appearances. That is a much better ratio than you are suggesting.
Just to remind you by comparison those stats would have him 2nd top scorer last season and our leading assist player was Cyrus Christie with a whopping 3.
Yes I know he needs to show more and he didnt deliver on loan last season but treated correctly he has the potential and stop going on about him needing to grow a backbown it’s getting boring and its wrong.

Yup, completely agree.
In the right set-up he could be a key player for us. I really, really hope we have such a set-up, cos put him in last season’s and it’s a waste of time. Fingers crossed for the summer business.

Talk about suiting their own agenda SM. I notice you used the 18/19 stats which look nice and pretty. How about the 19/20 season where in 26 games he played in (all competitions) he managed 2 goals and 1 assist.
He has been with the club for three seasons now and was loaned out last season. At £3M per season (as stated elsewhere) he has managed a whopping 6 goals and 9 assists. Its hardly the type of returns I would expect from a player that has cost the club so much.
Why is it wrong to state what is needed? He doesn't have the right attitude to play in the Championship. Simple as. Yet some of you still see him as some kind of messiah who will inject pace, majesticity and moments of magic week in week out. I just can't see it happening. Sorry, but thats what I see. I find it hard to see him through rose tinted glasses when he has cost the club so much for so very little return.
What I do accept is he is probably mentally scarred after his injury at Alfreton, which I feel is affecting his performances.
By the way, i never stated 6,7 or 10 games, i said every 6 or 7. Who's making up stuff to suit their own agenda now?

I think it's down to Carvalho and whether he has the determination to work harder on the training ground and to try and improve his game. This summer for example he should be working in the gym, trying to get stronger and bulking up a bit etc etc.
Is he doing that or is he sitting on a beach somewhere looking at himself in his phone and fiddling around with his hair?
I think you can see where I am coming from. Yes he has some talent but if he doesn't have the application and work ethic and the inner determination to get better and to become a better player etc etc then he won't make it with us.
Over to you Joao...
