Looking Forward To January...

I'm on the fence regarding Brereton. I've no idea which way he will go. I sincerely hope the thrives and become the player we wanted him to be, I have my doubts. Yes he was playing in a very poor team but his failure to control the ball and his decision making were worrying. Time will tell.

As for selling him looking at the direction the club appear to be taking it looks like a hear and now policy, if we go up I don't think he would've been premiership quality which is why I think Karanka has let him go. I think Worrall will go too. It's a gamble to rid the club of future talent, just hope for our sakes it pays off.

Telling someone theyre talking nonesense without reasoning behind it is not winning an debate. Im open to your points but obviously you are not mine so in your eyes the argument is already over?

Ive said that we now have Grabban and someone else has Brereton and that effectively cost nothing to change those personnel over. Grabban is a proven goalscorer and they are starting to come for him for us now. Brereton? Well Ive said my peice on him and I believe he is limited. When a young man supposedly with talent and a future cannot do the basics of controlling a ball and bringing the rest of the team into the game then something is lacking. Another academy released him which perhaps says something and suddenly, for a lad who cannot hope to make the Forest first team and has an attitude, we have 6M quid whivch effectively brought in a better player in his place. I could go deeper but there's enough justification in whats been said for it to make sense to many.

Of course I have no certain proof of which way Brereton will go and neither have you but Karanka and his coaches believe in a similar way to me otherwise he'd still be here and he had a good look at him last season so it isnt a knee jerk decision. Brereton was last good when he used his physically advantage at Youth or was U23 level. Since hes been playing at first team level his performance have nosedived. Neither of us can win this debate right now. We're just expressing differing footballing opinos. If we go up and Brereton's career nosiedives (Which I sincerely hope it doesnt) then I guess Karanka made the right call. If we dont go up, Brereton lights up Blackburn and becomes a 10M plus player then NG3 was right. Until then, who is talking the nonesense?

You're making complete 'SENSE' to me, Woody.

Well reasoned and rational.

On a similar sort of track. Rangers lost to Livingstone. Was Worrall playing in that one? It will be quite the baptism of fire up there.

No kidding.  Clough.  Cummings.

Two players where attitude and off the pitch aspects can affect matters on the pitch.

Forest have moved beyond both players and are more ambitious and professional with their signings.

I doubt we'll see either play for Forest again.

I'd prefer us not to get anyone new in January. We have bought in too many players already, many aren't playing (or likely to) so why are we getting them?

I'm hoping that we don't get anyone, because the players we have are living up the to hope and expectation and we are kicking some serious ass in this league.
To wish for new players is to expect a certain amount of failure.

It may help get Forest over the line if they're in the top 6. I doubt the team building will stop. Forest have shown they intended to rebuild the entire squad over January and this Summer. They've lifted the quality of every position over the last 9 months. I'm reasonably confident they intend to improve the squad further. Karanka has said they're always open to quality players who can improve the team.

A powerful and pacey 'bulldozer' to rattle the opposition...

You should try reading it properly then. It's been pure contradictory nonsense.

So you say say.  I'll respectfully disagree.  And defend your right to do so. :D

Life is full of contradictions.  eg.  Brereton is gone, Worrall stays.  e.g. 2.  Cash and Osborn are in the team and those two are not.

I even read it 'properly' a 'second' time and it still made sense.

Brereton was allowed to walk through the door at 6-7 million.  That pays for Grabban in the 'here and now.'

As to our future?

Our future is this season.

I was very romantic about Paul Hart's football.  But despite our young 'red and white' army showing the promise of youth, over the course of a battle weary Championship season, they wilted.

Similar pattern with Warburton's young guns.

'You can't win the title with youth.'  Said Hanson.  So Cantona proved him wrong/right.

We enviously (I speak for myself, of course...) watch Cardiff 'old man' right past us into the Premiership.

I'm not surprised that Forest are following a similar trait of battle hardened leaders and experienced players who can mix it and 'play a bit.'

Young players get their chance.  (And Worrall and Brereton had more than their fair share of their 'chances' and that probably explains where they are where they are and why Os' and Cash are where they are.)

Have to say I’m in the camp suggesting that neither Brereton or Worrall would’ve contributed this season. Suspect neither are quite as good as some on here suggest - hope to be proved wrong & both turn out to be absolute stars ( their respective moves were right for all parties ). They will both earn a very good living out of the game - possibly ( only my opinion ) not at the very highest level.

Relax gentlemen and lets discuss what might happen in January, that is what the thread is about.

Of course there will be different opinions, what is the point of a forum without them.

Lets please respect other peoples opinions without sarcastic remarks.

We are COYR and we do things differently here.

My view point on January is unless a top class player becomes available for some reason then we will be in for them but the players we have are starting to gel and showing what talents they are. So it would only be worth adding if they are better than what we have and right now and i don't see many better players in the championship nor better premiership fringe players. I'm thinking with the new scout the club will actually now be looking at longer terms purchases rather than the hear and now. I think they will be looking at younger players who will be good enough to break through if we got into the premiership.

Never doubt AK's ability to want to shuffle some players!

My guess is there'll be 3 come in to replace Bridcutt (who will want out and who can blame him?), Yates, Ariyibi, Hendo out on loan.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's a shocker too. Perhaps Goncalves might want out if he's not settled, or its been decided he's not right for the rigors of the Championship?

It wouldn't surprise me if we signed another right back and sold Darikwa in January.

Darikwa has improved under Karanka but I get the impression that Karanka doesn't rate him too highly.
