Love the say you've sneaked Carvalho in there SR! Shortening his name to Carv seems to have avoided an uproar so far. With those around him that you've picked could make for a very exciting season.

Yeah, he worked best when he had players that could pass and move to link up with, remember him linking up well with Osborn for example, or people making runs. We need critical mass of players that can knit together going forward, then we could get the best out of him. With 2 players behind that can pass it would help too.

Odd the lack of reaction on Carvalho like you say, instead me mentioning Mowatt gets picked on - mentioning Mowatt in a team of suggestions, when he has been suggested, in a thread called 'Player Suggestions For The 2021 Summer Transfer Window'. Only the 6th time I've ever mentioned him apparently, when he's been playing in our league for the last 2 years, against us 5 times, yet I'm 'idolizing' him. You gotta love the internet  :D

Edit - Apparently that front 4 would get us relegated, so there's implicit Carvalho criticism. Though I was told Cash would never make a right-back, and that people questioning Grabban last summer were 'f@ckwits who dont know sh1t about real football'. So I'll take my chances on seeing how things play out myself ta ducks :D

Yeah, I don’t expect the club to try that one again. And remember WBA are in our division now, and with parachute money, if he’s worth having for the Championship they’d keep him.

Agreed. Not only that but he's had far less game time last season than he had the year before. Between that, lockdown, and the fact that he's 33 next week, I think he'd be a far bigger risk fitness wise than when we were after him initially.

Should have gone for him when his agent was trying to get him a move away from Hull April 2019, and before other parties with a more attractive league placing were involved. 

2 years after the event, and all the fanny about he's done with us? no ta.

Villa fans on Neil Taylor:


A proper old school left back who got a nose bleed when ever he dared to cross the half way line. He feels like a bit of a throw back player now that full backs are expected to create as much as they defend. I would have always liked to have seen him on the left side of a back 3 where he wouldn’t have been expected to push up and attack (which always exposed him), because I think he was very underrated as a pure defender, although unfortunately he isn’t large enough to be a centre back in a back 2. Really interested to see where he goes next.



Lost his edge after the Coleman clash ( think it was Coleman?)
From being a semi attacking player, he withdrew massively into a stop at the half way line player.
Sighed to myself when ever he came on in the last few years as we were pretty much always going to be on the back foot with little support down the left to relieve the pressure.
Apparently a very likeable human and great for the squad, also a valuable advocate of Asian footballers and a weel respected amongst his peers player.
Would like him to do his badges and possibly help the academy / recruitment of the top Asian players.




Many players have contribute far less and taken far more out of the club.
Good pro, did a good job when called upon and I wish him the best.


A specialist LB in my opinion, good at defending, good at positioning, tried his best and had a good attitude.

Not a bad shout Red Rascal. However once again it's another player the wrong side of 30. I wouldn't be against an 18 month contract but in all honesty I'd prefer someone younger.
