That’s why Dawson has been such a good pro. Could you imagine Arter or Taylor in the dug out constantly encouraging and cajoling his fellow teammates.

Taylor was whining in the first few weeks, saying he’d been told he was coming into the club to play alongside Grabban.

It’s so important you do the due-diligence on attitude and character when signing more experienced players.

Ultimately these are the players who end up getting managers sacked.

Young players with their careers ahead of them tend to toe the line as they want to progress.

It’s very dangerous having a high % of players who will never be able to play higher. They realise that and just don’t have the hunger or desire.

Is that a veiled post suggesting there is some truth to the rumour that Arter is on his way out for having a 'cynical' attitude and his nose is out of joint?

We have some good ones out on loan like Fornah, Johnson, McGuane, En Neyah. It’s great getting some are getting quality minutes on loan, but they do it so when come back we know if there good enough for our first team, but even if they are we have loads of older players on big contracts blocking there way.

You want a balance of youth and experience, 4-5 experienced players to help the younger players. We're not necessarily that far from that. Samba, Worrall, Mckenna, Yates, Mighten all reasonably young (for their positions). Add in Johnson next season and you've got a core of youth mixed with experience. 

I suspect we could add to those with a full back from the academy? (Not sure if we have any that are close to first team action?)

No one ‘banging the door down’ Wassy.

Neither Richardson or Gabriel have nailed down regular starts on their respective loans - both have been labelled ‘highly promising’ but yet to really demonstrate that they’re ready.

Danny Preston ( although a left back - other two are right backs ) has probably jumped ahead of them - playing regularly at Grimsby & getting good reviews.

But what I am saying is when those lads come back, the likes of Arter and Colback still have a few more seasons left on their contract.

Plus the manager has already clearly said he is only concentrating on the here and now. Which can understand but it’s not building for future, and cannot see him playing the kids.

But what I am saying is when those lads come back, the likes of Arter and Colback still have a few more seasons left on their contract.

Seems like a win win to me though, either Arter/Colback are good enough in which case we play them or we play the young players if they're better.

We want the best team out surely? I can see your argument if you're worried CH isn't going to be willing to allow them to prove they're better perhaps but right now it wouldn't take a lot to improve the team.

I would still prioritise success over giving young players game time.

Hughton prioritised Yates. He's young.

If you're a better player I've seen enough evidence the manager will play them.

As long as what they have to offer is more than promise or their Dad's bias.

He did say that.

But he also said you are always planning for the future!

And woukd act accordingly if that opportunity came up!!

I guess Hughton will want to sign him to play him...
