All fine Gari I get that.
The problem is the club has been rooted in short termism. Must get promotion this season, if not the manager gets sacked and the squad gets overhauled. Repeat every year.
Thats why so many of us are asking for a long term strategy.

Lets have a bit of honesty here...
If after the loss to Stoke at the end of last season the next day we were offered Colaback, Arter and Freeman we would have all taken them wouldn't we? Be honest.
I applauded all those signings at the time and also the change in emphasis from the Semedo type players to these. And I've not yet written them off yet unlike pretty much everyone on this forum has. All 3 have proven quality and I have no doubt, if they can get over their injury issues, then we have a manager who can appreciate what they've done for other clubs and get them going again.

All 3 seemingly on the decline. Especially Freeman with his fitness and over weight state.

Oh for gods sake decline. Half the players in the league are on the decline.

This is fair however they did stick with Sabri until it seemed untenable
The change in strategy has only been one window so far where they signed a combination of young players and older players (with a few random ones for seemingly no obvious reason)
If you want a long term strategy I guess you have to give them more than one window to prove thats what we've got.

Finally, some sanity on the forum.

Yes of course. Unfortunate with the injuries. Add in Lyle Taylor which seemed like a shrewd bit of business on a free. Who wouldn’t have taken him as a solid squad striker. Add in McKenna who’s been one of the best signings we’ve made in 10 years. Plus Mbe Soh and it was now where near as bad a window as some make out.
I’m also pleased with our business so far in this window. Knockaert and Krovinovic are good signings.

Personally I think the transfer input from the none-managerial side of thing has been utterly dire for years.
From a ton of random punts, to far too many players being purchased in any 1 window, to no grasp of the players fitness etc. I think Anigo, Modesto, Vrentroz, Memdez etc. have all played a huge part in creating a Fawaz-esq situation, where we now face relegation & a have a very restricted budget due to a bloated squad and heavy wage bill.
Despite certain noteable changes during the last window, we still didn't cover very basic ground, like making sure players were fit (signing Colback after 18 months not playing? FFS)
Hughton seems to be having more of a say in things now thankfully, Brazil's input is welcome too (although le's not forget Zach Clough) but the damage done has been huge, and the sooner the Greeks realize that their side of things should fully concentrate on none-footballing aspects of the club, and leave all that to the manager to look after, the better.
I'd be surprised if any of our scouts have actually watched half the players we've signed actually play. Bong, Colback & Freeman wouldn't have made it here if they had. Mir, Muric, Bonatini, Dias.... the list is an almost endless fountain of dross.

I’m not convinced they can either
