These next 2 games at home before the next international break are massive for Karanka. 4 points or 6 points will see us sitting in the play offs and his job will be safe for now.
On the other hand, 2 defeats leading into the break will probably rightly or wrongly see him loose his job. I am looking at that through the eyes of our owner, not my own.

I agree Sniffer, these next two games are really important, if we mess it up then my gut says that Marinakis will want someone in before the January window. Not saying I agree with this but feel that it could happen

We don't know how much Forest Marinakis is watching and who is he talking to. He also isn't going to be as passionate as most of us as he isn't a fan, which means he will behave differently to Olympiakos.

The problem is the expectation was ramped up by all at nffc including AK himself. It is unrealistic. Just because we spent big this season it doesn’t automatically make us a team that should be challenging. Short term investment route takes more than 20-30m. Our low base also has to be taken into account. Looking at other teams around the top then there is a real mix of longer term projects (sheff Utd), big spenders over a couple of years (Middlesbrough) - ex prem (wba) and of course derby (good quality loans to an already expensively assembled squad). It took wolves 2 seasons of very large investment- we are out performing them from their first season of mega signings. I haven’t even included Stoke and Villa who with their squads should be shoe ins for top 6.
If we are challenging for play offs this year then we should all be happy. Trouble is we get greedy and see that with that extra bit of luck...quality...tactical nousee then we’d already have 6-9 extra points from winning positions we have had and sitting pretty at the top of the table. We are in the middle of a really tough run of fixtures too.
Tuesday was a real let down though. A big chance to keep the squad happy with extra games and also have a chance To keep the feel good factor. A real let down.
It will be all forgiven if we win our next 2, though I can see 2 defeats or 2 draws at best.

winning both the next games will take us in the play off places. What about loosing them? or loosing one and drawing the other? how will we compare to last season (same stage of the season)? it is that, to what Marinakis will be looking to.... after spending all that money and practically giving AK a new squad, a squad that AK was allowed to pick... did we improve on last year? ... in my opinion, performances not much, but maybe results and position in the table will mask the performances...
I am not going to go back to the Burton game, I said enough and many in here said enough ... we performed half decently for no more then 25% of the games so far ... I have to say that we are far from being consistently playing nice football that deserve promotion...
Last season by Day 15 (included) we had amassed a total of 21 points from 7 wins (the 16th game was a win that brought us to 24 points)
This season by Day 15 we are on 23 points (2 points better then last season), if we loose both the next two games or at least not get one point, we will be in a similar situation of last season. So, can we call that improvement? Was AK backed similarly to Warbarton (to keep in mind that AK started his clean up last season and not in the summer, so he already had a good start)..

Someone called East Midlands Reds (@iklestonred) just posted this on twitter. I think it's very interesting stat.
“Lampard is a genius. His sides are so good to watch. Derby are flying at the minute”
Last 11 games:
LDWDLDDWWDL - 3 wins 5 draws 3 losses (14 points)
“Karanka on borrowed time, should be sacked”
Last 11 games
DWWWDDWLWDL - 5 wins 4 draws 2 defeats. (19 points)

Slightly off topic, but it'll be interesting to see how the sheep last the season. From what I've seen of their matches so far they put a massive amount of effort and energy into regaining possession high up the pitch. Can they sustain that through the entire campaign?
Ozzy - great post. Pretty much agree with all of that.
