It's a bit like reading the Carvalho thread all over again!

Would have been the McGugan thread too if the forum had been running long enough!
CHO was a reasonable gamble at the price we paid. Carvalho not so much.

He Danilo and to an extent wood ( if he’d realised how much space/no one challenging behind him) we’re all close to good goals last night. That side netting man such a fake out!

I feel like CHO should change position and be our MGW backup. Pace less important, skill and vision more so. Might not work, and currently we need him as a winger, but I think it might be his future

I think this is a fallacy based on nothing other than reputation.
He has a wide gait so over two or three yards does cover a bit of ground but never pulls away from the full back through sheer pace and often doesn’t do it for more than those first few yards without stopping or checking back.
I do wonder what his goal contributions stats are like are compared to others.
They must be weaker than Yates, Dominguez, MGW, Elanga, Toffolo, Wood and Taiwo at the very least.

His lack of bottle to win headers or 60:40 tackles in his favour is shocking.
He doesn’t do enough to justify being part of the 25 man squad.
We really miss Elanga.
There are remnants in CHO play which show why he was such a massive prospect at Chelsea. His first touch remains excellent. He can still put in a good cross with his right foot as seen by Woods goal at Brentford. The big issue for him is a loss of pace which means he can’t go past defenders on the outside. He is playing in the same position as Robbo who had much less pace still but his left foot was so good he he didn’t need pace to go both ways. If CHO could improve his delivery with his left foot he could become a very useful player again but at 23 those kind of skills are usually already developed.
We’ve had so many players who you could say the same about who we’ve wasted two, three or four years on without getting sufficient return on investment.
Also, to be honest, I’m not seeing these remnants and if you were there yesterday you would have seen that he was arguably a liability to the team. He has the heart of a mouse, pulls out of tackles where he is favourite to win and is scared to compete for headers. He constantly left the full back to join in their attacks leaving Nuno exposed.
As it stands he’s not fit to polish Robbo’s turds and their names shouldn’t even occupy the same sentence.

I was there and at Brentford and all but one league game home or away all season. As others have pointed out there have been some genuine glimpses of quality such as the goal against Burnley and the cross last week. He plays the same position as Robbo did. CHO has played for England and for a short period was seen as one of the top prospects in world football. I agree he is not as good as Robbo, very unlikely we see somebody of that ilk playing in a forest shirt again in our lifetimes. I don’t remember him chasing back much though or winning to many headers which some are criticising CHO for. It’s his inability to cross with his left foot which limits him the most in contrast to Robbo’s left foot which was a wand. I played in the same sunday league team as him for a while and managed to miss a header from a yard when he had picked me out with a typical cross with his left foot.

Those two examples stand out because they are the only two examples.
Awoniyi, Elanga, MGW, Danilo, Dominguez and Wood all have more goals this season than him.
Toffolo, MGW and Elanga all have more assists. Awoniyi, Montiel, Aurier and Yates have the same.
This isn’t the CHO of England and Chelsea. That’s a completely different player.

Positives
- We're in the hat for next round.
- Clean sheet at last.
- MGW back.
- Got to visit Brunels Bridge.
- Spent time in Bath.
- Bonus game time for any returning players to get up to speed (especially those having a stroll around at AFCON)
- More game time for Omobamadele who increasingly looks better suited to Premier league (and FA Cup) than any other young CB at club.
Negatives
- It was freezing again.
- First half we had to weather a bit of a storm (could be in positives I suppose).
- They had best left back on pitch throughout.
- More outlay for a replay.
- The draw now has me looking too ahead!!!
I genuinely would have taken a draw beforehand and to get a clean sheet and a decent GKing performance can only be good whilst Turner still remains our #1.
