Jack Robinson

He is the best person for the LB spot at the moment and we are stronger having him there than Osborn. I feel he needs more games to get match fit and sharp and also get used to playing with the people around him.

I used to watch him play for the Liverpool academy & hadn't really watched him that much since, so when we signed him I was expecting the wiry little 17 year old that I used to enjoy watching bomb on, back then.

He's changed a lot since I last watched him (I guess age does that to all of us) but I know he's been taught to do the attacking full back thing, so I'm looking to him to rediscover that skill set.

Well, that sounds promising. Cheers for the info  :)

I’m not blown away by him but he’s massive step up on Osborn. He was just constantly targeted and rightly so. I agree he doesn’t look great on the ball (more like a CB) but it’s nice having a defender that is pretty good at defending for a change

He's not at all a massive step up from Osborn. I would actually prefer to have Osborn at left back. I'm not saying that he's a better defender but so much better going forward. We need his kind of drive and desire at left back. And I really don't understand this targeting argument. Is this about his height?

Pleased that I’m not in a minority of one - still believe Osborn to be our best left back. That’s not to say we shouldn’t strengthen in this position if/when the opportunity arises.

Osborn might be able to do that job if he wasnt so short. He gets targetted and quite honestly will never be a full back whilst he has a hole in his bottom.

Watch our defense improve with proper full backs. Each defender can get on with their own job rather than having to worry about covering others so much. There s a place in the squad for Osborn but never as a first choice full back.

Since when was height such a prerequisite to play full back?

it was obvious the likes of wba and Birmingham targeted Osborn.

Excellent TPL. Good to hear that I'm not alone on this. There is a lot of strong feelings when it comes to Osborn. And I agree, I really hope that we are looking into getting a really good wing back onboard.

Ha I think we’re going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I think Osborn has his positive qualities but he was relentlessly targetted when he played left back. Regularly gave the ball away and mainly his positional sense is just off. Personally think was more the issue rather than the height although I guess the issue is amplified by his height as he’s got less margin for error. Even sky referenced Osborn getting targetted when we played on there. He might’ve been a decent left back given time to hone those skills but we’re going all out this year.

Also when did being attacking become so important to be a defender?! Defending first it’s like all the people that thought Smith was useless as

Put in a couple of great crosses yesterday, also his bullet throw set up a great chance for Carvalho. Had a slow start but he's getting better with each game.

I agree was impressed On Wednesday hope he continues to improve. I like Osborn but not as a full back. One thing about Osborn I know he took the free kick for Grabbans goal but could they please let someone else take the corners he really is hopeless at them, Robinson maybe? He seems to have a good cross in him.
