We all want him to succeed. He just needs to be more consistent. This season is a huge one for him. New players have come in and will be knocking on that door. Hopefully the threat is having the desired effect.

Fair play to him yesterday. Shows his character to carry on training and wanting to play. Can't be an easy time for him and his family.

Fully deserves his new contract.

Well done Skipper.

I am so happy for Joe and his contract extension. I hope the likes of Arter and Shelvey J take note of what being a model, professional representative of our great football club should be about.

We all know that Joe isnt the greatest or fastest player we have, but he is without doubt the most most committed, dedicated and loyal player. Captain fantastic!!

Well done Joe

Worrall had a good game against Chelsea (although it would seem a lot less so had Chelsea scored the equalizer after Sterling beat Worrall to set up a sure goal that was hoofed over the bar from inside the 6 yard box).

If he plays this well in 4 games out of every 5 I'll get off his case.  As it is, he plays well in (at best) 2 games out of 5.

You name one single player in our squad who plays that well in 4 out of 5 games and I will get off your case.

Once again, thinking something doesn't make it true. Who do you support?

That wasn't bad defending, was just an excellent bit of skill from Sterling. Any defender gets beaten there. That's like complaining if a keeper doesn't save a penalty!

His biggest issue is that he has yet to prove that he is capable of playing well consistently in a back four

You can only hope with a better all round squad that he’ll be tested more in training

Very nice article about Joe in the Athletic yesterday, nothing we don’t already know but titled “Why every club needs a Joe Worrall” basically we all know he isn’t the blessed with the finest talent but he more than makes up for it in his character which he uses to bring extra out of his teammates too.

I think many criticise his game without considering his wider effect on the team as a whole. With that in mind the article reminded us of the magical interview he gave way back in 2016 after a 0-2 home defeat to Wolves. It was the Montanier darkest days and a 19 year old Worrall told it how it was that many of the team to paraphrase didn’t give a shit. Possibly not the wisest thing to say at an interview and it didn’t go down well in the club but he was young and he meant it and as fans we all thought he was correct.

Anyway a leader even back then as he is now. Not for a second suggesting he has to read the riot act these days but great to know we have him and indeed Yates bringing a new squad together.
