He's a poster who I have great respect for.
He's got me thinking about Murphy.
Is he lacking experience? He's not very old and he had just 2 seasons at Barnsley one which was a success and one that was almost a complete disaster.
Is he out of his depth at Forest? A club with high demands and expectations compared with Barnsley who's demands and expectations are low.
What about his contacts in the game? I know Vrentzos was far from perfect but his contacts in football are massive, can we say the same about Dane?
This post is not critical in anyway I just want to put it out there for debate because JCK has really got me thinking with some of his comments recently.
I like posters who make me think. And Jean does that.
Where are the players?
When Aitor needed players after terrible Preston loss not long after he came in. He fired half the squad and a mad scramble brought in the players to save Forest from a potential relegation battle.
I don't detect a sense of urgency with this new CEO. At all. The 1st 3 results are on him as he has NOT given Hughton the tools to work with. It's a joke starting the season without a LB. I thought we'd stopped doing that crap under Doughty and Mark Arthur. It's like some weird time warp.
The one thing I knew about Mr. V? Formidable negotiator. He got deals done. It was the stand out feature of his tenure for me. Had he wrapped his mind around the 'special' requirements of this league? We'd be on our way. He copped a bit of heat for last season, and cleverly, given Forest fans what they want. :)
Did we start last season without players in key positions? We're currently weaker.
Dane has much to prove. Forest aint Barnsley. We have a long history of Clough and Taylor picking up lower league gems, journey men and transforming them. Our thing was to buy one or two 'class' players to give us the edge. It's ironic that we've brought in an American ex Barnie man to go back to what Clough and Taylor did.
'See value in different places.'
He sounds like a stats man. But we need that Peter Taylor 'factor' to run the rule over the man. I guess that's where Gary, the new Wigan man etc come into the equation. Can they do things the 'Forest Way' and do they pass the character test.
But I've given my current assessment above.

We would end up with Bong, Arter, and Jenkinson on inflated wages though Widdow :D
Do you think that Vrentzos kept the fact that we have expensive failures on our hands from Murphy when he was interviewed for the job?
Murphy accepted that situation, together with all of the other S**t when he took the job on; its no good complaining about the situation now.
You do realise that the vast majority of CEOs get their jobs because the previous guy was either a failure or was not doing as expected; that means they all have issues to deal with that will not be to their liking.
Blaming the previous guy does not solve the problem; Murphy will know that more than anyone, and you can be sure he will not use that excuse, because that is all it is, an excuse.
Top level executives should have top level problem solving skills.
Instantly? Name me a time when that has happened? You build and evolve over time. Afford him that time and then judge, judging now is simply just ridiculous. The club knew it was a summer of change. A change it has been, but judging some instantaneously is bordering insane.
But then with hughton we have been accustomed to the meaning of insanity.

The transfer window is not over yet so I think this is all a bit premature.

Totally agree, afford Dane the same time we gave Alf before him. Before jumping on his neck. His old gaffer got it wrong for 4 years. He certainly did not come under scrutiny within this short time period. He is now being used as the fall guy I feel.

Lets see if that argument holds up after Bong and Back get absolutely skinned by Stoke on Saturday.

All three are arguably better options than what we have now, which is nothing.
But they are still here and hampering our wage budget....

And there is the exact problem at forest in one line. We want long term strategy that works and improves our club model and how we operate going forward but we want it in 6 weeks. You cannot change a club in that time I'm afraid. But hey we keep going. Get your philosophy, strategy and policy in over night or you are a failure at NFFC.

Yep. That's fine. That's reasonable. Np with that. But the same 'sense of common sense and fairness' must extend to Hughton.
After all, he's waiting on the 'new' CEO to 'recruit' to give him the players he needs. If Hughton is culpable. So is the CEO who has yet to fill the squad with the 'competitive' players the manager has requested, having instead to field half a team of rookies.
And it's cost 9 points and counting.
What's good for the goose...

We know that. The CEO must know that. THey're left overs from the previous Summer's recruitment. Bong played under Hughton but he wasn't a Hughton signing. None of them were?
If Hughton picked 3 players to come in in those positions, they'd have to do well to perform worse in value for money or footballing contributions.

No, that's wrong. Get your philosphy phased in and up to speed & rolling over a few windows while things are being tendered to on the pitch by a manager with experience. Don't go cold turkey and leave gaping holes in the side. This season is now written off before it's begun. It didn't need to be like that. Jenkinson could be playing perfectly adequately at right back. Arter could be another option for us in midfield. Ribeiro or Loannou could be performing adequately at left back. We would be a bang average side but it'd be safe for a season while the youngsters and any new signings get bedded in. As it stands for Stoke we'll have 2 major questions at full back. Stoke will be targetting both and our team will be set up to protect them. It didnt need to be like that.

Jenkinson has been here 3 seasons now and not had any serious involvment in the side. Does the club seriusly think he's going to piss off now and find another club? In this climate? No, he's going to sit on his contract and see it out. Why let that happen when we're desperate for a RB? it's insane.

You make a good point about Ioannou going out on loan without having replaced the LBs.
