Im not a huge fan of 3421, not convinced we have the squad for it.
Defensively OK until the goal.
You can see how important wing backs are to the system, desperately need another one and it needs to be quality.
Looked toothless upfront, no cutting edge apart from MGW yet again. He cant do it alone.
I really want McAtee to work as an 8. Worth persevering for now but lets just say there’s work to do there.
Need a goal scorer
Disappointed we didn’t make a bigger effort for a quality keeper, Trafford was an excellent buy for them.
Other than that deserved a point. Disappointing but we were far from terrible.

Id agree we were far from terrible. On another day it might've been us that grabbed the goal and if so, we'd be all saying how well we did for a first game out under this new system.

I watched the sunderland away and palace away games from last season the other night. Todays performance was a million miles off that level of performance but we have to start somewhere.

I too am not a big fan of  3421 but I'm going to remain positive about it in the hope things will be better in a few games time.

Do we play a strong side on Tuesday? Looks like the system needs games to me.

I agree system needs games, think I'd give Schlager/Diomande debuts and maybe Netz over Aina but otherwise not too much change. Maybe Wood in for N'Doye too if fit enough.

Any other manager bringing on Kali in the 93rd minute gets slated.

At least we can only get better.

Right?

Ha tbf other managers going 5 at the back at home would too!

Actually think Aina was more threatening than Neco in this system. He at least hit the by line and has pace

Thought it was a pretty poor game, a nailed on 0-0 before a poor GK error. Almost looked like a game between the sides that finished 15/16th...

A few looked short of fitness, especially Sangare & I think the whole team lack pace. Neco's right footedness is more of a problem when he's the only width on that side, too often he just comes back/inside instead of taking the ball on his left foot.

Ndoye offered nothing. He didn’t even make a nuisance of himself when we were out of position. What a waste of Money him, Bakwa  and Hutchinson have been. Over £100 million and one year later we would struggle to get £30 m now.

I thought for the first game of the season it was an ok performance.

We hit the post, Wood missed an absolute sitter of a chance and that was poor goalkeeping from Sels to get beaten by the free kick.

Another day we win easily 1 0 and all the moaners will be silent.

As ever, we will only get better the longer that OG has with them and they get used to his systems and tactics. The first 30 minutes showed that - a settled Leeds squad against a Forest squad with new tactics and lessons to be learned.

I am sure Bakwa and Kali and all the others will get their chance to play in midweek.

We will become more organised and accustomed to the system as time goes on.
However, if we want to meet EM’s expectations we need more pace and physicality in the team; otherwise we will continue to be just ‘ordinary’ and middle or bottom third PL. if we can’t transition quickly then we are somewhat predictable and easier to contain.

Time will tell how patient EM will be but we have several £20-30m players who don’t fit that bill that we now need to shift out to fund the incomings we will need.

I find this very frustrating as it’s been obvious what we have needed since Brennan and Spence (and then Elanga) moved on.
Ndoye
Bakwa
Kalimuendo
And to some extent hutch were all brought in as quick attacking players.
Unfortunately, none are Brennan or Elanga quick, which is what we need.
Disappointing recruitment last season imho.

I am afraid it will be the same this time DR we seem to be reactive not proactive? If most reasonable fans can see the issues why cant the recuitment team?

Just a comment on the goal and the criticism of Sels, which is largely valid but the real problem was how we setup in the box to defend it. We were five yards too deep so Sels had one eye on a ball being whipped in and was on his toes to react to it.

One of the centre halves needed to take control and drag us slightly higher so Sels could focus solely on the shot.

I don't like structures without wingers. It's boring and unproductive

Surely it’s sel’s job to line the wall and the referee’s to draw a line where they have to stand?
I didn’t see it but surely we wouldn’t be 15 yards from the ball?!
