Ok....just been over to Nottm to visit my son, who happened to go round to someone who is well connected to the club's house this week and got chatting to him (I will not give the persons name for obvious reasons).

1. The person says most of the players know Sabri's days are numbered, but because the club spent so much on his signings, they are seeing if things can be turned around.
2. Sabri didnt make any contact with any player. at all, after the Stoke game until pre-season started.
3. A lot of the players are struggling to understand what he wants from them. He is not giving them enough explanation of things, leaving players not sure about things.
4. He has lost a lot of the dressing room, not all of it, but quite a few players no longer want to know.
5. The players are devastated at the start they have had so far this season.
6. Sabri not prepared to discuss alternative suggestions with players.

If the above statements are true, and I have absolutely no reason to believe otherwise, then I think it is safe to say I cannot see things turning around, despite my comments on my earlier post and can the club, in all seriousness, afford to give him any longer?

Those of you that know me on here will know that I do not put up gossip or idle bullshit. The above has been told to me by my son, who I trust totally by someone we all know through their connection to the club. If that person has been bullshitting my son, then I will view them in a totally different light from now on, but, in all fairness, I doubt the person is that way inclined.

Number 3 above, is there a language problem? Sabris English is not great to be fare and I wonder if all these coaches that he has brought in know enough English to get their points and instructions through to the players. It's just a thought that crossed my mind.

Possibly Sniff and a good theory. But! The players did ok at the start of last season when his English was possibly a lot worse than it is now? Good point about the new coaches though.

I can see all that as plausible.
Sabri seems to have lost his mojo a bit too.
The fact about not speaking to them is fine by me - everyone deserved some time to heal wounds and recharge batteries
I’m sure that some of the dressing room (those that aren’t playing) will be pissed off and so they should.
Not discussing alternatives - well I’m sure bielsa, clough and anyone else with decent pedigree would tell them to do one anyway...

I am surprised by the lack of rumours about his position as in the past we have all known via media that a change is coming yet at the moment there is very little apart from the new annoying Greek twitter bloke.

Law of averages says we have to win soon- our squad is strong and if the players are as upset then we can expect a reaction.

I’d still like a change personally- I think last year we were a fantastic away side but terrible at home. The recent form of 7 consecutive losses against average and poor opposition is an enormous worry.

Very annoying and very up and down, changes his mind every 5 minutes. Plus that website he owns makes The Sun look like the Financial Times. Total trash.

Thanks for the insight Tricky, interesting stuff.

I dont buy the language barrier is a problem with Sabri, as has been said its far better than Bielsa and some others but I suspect its his general demeanour think he is a man of few words. I always thought similar with Karanka, doubt he is someone you warm to straight away as a person.

The 4th point about losing some of the players who no longer want to know is telling. It comes back to my favourite angst about the squad being too large. Those who will be slating him will be those not getting in the 18 I strongly suspect. Need to move out some faces asap.

Morning all and thanks Tricky for this bit of insight.

My reaction to the points you pass on:

1) Not surprised. Everyone knows this, the players will know it too.
2) You can read this as a positive as well as a negative. It was obvious Sabri was major pissed off, as we were. It's possible he needed some space to get away from the club, the pressure and from football, as did some of the players probably. Or, perhaps he felt they were better being left to their own devices while things calmed down, to prevent someone saying something they regretted later.
3) That's surprising as the general consensus from players seems to be that he articulates exactly what he wants from each player. I feel that's why he had such a positive impact when he arrived, as the players were left with very specific instructions as to what they were required to do. That was in direct contrast to MoN who just sent them out to 'play', the Cloughy way.
4) No every employee of every company likes their boss. I'd imagine if you're a footballer and you hear the same message every day from your gaffer, the sparkle must fade somewhat. That's why fresh faces in the dressing room is a positive. They bring new energy and the message being delivered continues to have impact.
5) Why should he? Did Cloughy take instructions from his players? Do you imaging Mourinho does or Fergie did?

Tricky, you say you can't see this being turned around. When I started to read your post I imagined it would be a car crash tale of woe but there's really nothing in there that wouldn't be the same in every club, I'd imagine. I'm encouraged it's not a story of rebellion and infighting as I worried it might be.
