Blackburn Fan Match Comments 1st Half...

Hughton is a proper clued up astute manager at this level - everything Mowbray isn't - he will make gradual improvements, building from the back and improve a side year on year.

He's doing now what he did at Brighton in his first season - inherited an absolute shambles - he's not ripping up trees or blowing teams away but the signs are there - they are conceding less goals, becoming harder to beat and climbing the table slowly but surely. They won't win awards for nice football or nonsense like box incursions, expected goals or number of passes completed but they will achieve consistency.

Next season he'll have them challenging for the top 6, like he did at Brighton and Birmingham. They'll be really hard to beat. We'll still be lolloping around going nowhere and Mowbray will be able to bemoan the Forest spending, resources, quality etc.

Good managers continually progress clubs. Average managers reach a level and can't go any further.

I expect a narrow defeat but a reasonable performance insofar as we won't be outplayed or humiliated so Mowbray will fall back on excuses, mistakes, fine margins or the referee as the reason for another defeat.

By that point it will be 4 straight defeats so the pressure will be getting up to unavoidable levels even for the more deluded around, so expect a draw the following week v Watford and a narrow win v Coventry to keep the show on the road in typical fashion.

Just looked at the Forest squad. Not only have they got Lolley and Glen Murray but also another regular thorn in our side, Knockaert. One or two of these is bound to score.

I can't see them sacking Mowbray if we lose today, or midweek, or next weekend. So I want us to win today.

Shit team again. Elliott presumably in central midfield, 2 kids at centre back, the undroppable lump of shite Gallagher on the wing and Bell brought in for no reason at all.

I hope I'm wrong and I won't get a chance to watch, but that defence looks an absolute bomb scare up against Forrest's experienced strikers

Hope I'm wrong

to ask two teenagers to keep an experienced and seasoned forest forward line quiet is unfair on them and a damning indicement of mowbrays management,in fact it`s a ridicoulous situation for any professional club to find themselves in

Tombola Tony strikes again.

They’ve got a 50 year old Cafu playing for them so we’re gonna p*ss rings round ‘em.

That defence terrifies me.
Gone big on Forest today.

Glen Murray is 37 why is he pulling his socks over his knees like a child. What a pleb

plenty of hugs and handshakes by our lads, has mowbray announced it`s his last match!!

Hughton, proper manager.

Wtf was that from Gallagher. Why can’t he do basic passes

Great work there by Nyambe to create a chance for Gallagher

Brereton should have scored

“Forest is a club with a history and you can see why it would be attractive to any manager” - N Yardley

Yet nobody would come to Rovers...

Forest are no bigger than us.

Playing with a fire in our bellies today, but doesn't mean anything unless it results in goals.

Gallagher looks clumsier than usual if that's possible.

Why are Brereton's shots and headers always so weak?

He never seems to generate much power on any attempts he makes.

Best start we’ve made to a game in months.

Gallagher is an absolute donkey.

Knock heart is a tidy player

Clearly a complete prick though. Thoroughly enjoyed him missing that pen for Leicester against Watford in the play offs, after he'd dived to win it.

What a ball from Bell! Surely Christie should have been booked for the kicking the ball away incident.

Oh dear

What a goal.

Who you blaming today Tony?

Four losses in a row coming up. Hang your head in shame.

More pressure now 1-0

Davenport reaction said it all after that goal. Hands out front n frustration of here we go again type response

This ref is having a f*****g shocker. Everything against rovers

Mainly because we are fouling a lot

forest completely bossing it now, ffs show some leadership, somebody, anybody

Bell hasn't got remotely near stopping a cross yet.

Players look half arsed as usual

Somehow every time Forest attack they look like they'll score. We just seem to lose the ball, pass to no-one or send hopeful balls into the box for no-one to connect with. Getting really sick of it.

Saw the goal on Soccer Saturday. Refused to waste a tenner on it today.

The thing that struck me was the appalling body language from our players after the ball flew in. One of complete and utter resignation.

Bell is just a danger. That said the old fella should have buried that for forest

Our basic passing, shooting, heading is just non-existent. What do we do in training?

At least Tonys seems arsed today..

Never seen Mowbray so active as today.. Must be feeling the pressure surely

Not wasting any more money on the game today or the rest of the season so I can't comment on the game, but when does the penny drop with the club that this is no longer working and TM has to go?

This season is turning/has turned into a shambles.

Or Brereton. He’s just a clown.

I'm old enough to remember when he had a couple of half-decent games and some on here started saying he was worth £7m

Best player for me so far although that isn’t saying much we’ve been gash bar the opening five.

I take back my earlier comment about us starting well. SOOOO FUCKIN POOR!

This has Forest 2-1 written all over it. They’ll go 2-0 up and we’ll get a late consolation again.

Mowbray out. So sick and tired of this same sh*t week in week out.

That shot of Breretons was that weak it was almost a pass

Brereton doesnt really look like a footballer eh?

Brereton and Gallagher are plodding donkeys

One bad shot and you put BB in the same bracket as the hopeless Gally?  Drivel.

Armstrong. Nearly 1-1 woodwork

Throw in that we create 1-2 max clear cut chances per match and you can see why we’re struggling!

As I posted earlier, Forest have a 100% win record when going ahead - so this game is done and dusted.

Performance getting steadily worse.

A couple of posters asked what going big on Forest means - have put a sizeable wad on Forest win, enough to get me a case of quality reds.

Unlucky from Armstrong but lucky not to be 3 down based on Forest chances.

This feels like a winnable game despite being 1-0 down, but I know it's more likely to finish 2-0 given our current record.

Gally off at half time, get Rothwell or Dolan on.

Absolute shite served up again, not that the idiots on ifollow would give you that impression.

In attack we are again imbalanced and totally reliant on Armstrong, his movement and his magic which he nearly scored with. Gallagher on the wing again not working and even beyond that, he is technically bereft. Brereton crap too, 3 attempts which all barely reached. Elliott is not a central player.

Defensively the 2 kids are bombscares, especially Harwood Bellis. And easy to forget quite how bad Bell is until he plays, a terrible player.

Only 2 positives are Armstrong as mentioned and Davenport who will be dropped for the next game anyway.

On iFollow...

Forest have a half-time round up of the scores around the grounds while the Rovers commentary has...silence. Hardly groundbreaking stuff, but at least Forest are making an effort! As always, Rovers as a club just give off the feeling that they can't really be all that bothered. It's been the same for a decade now.

He’s completely out of his depth now that the ambition is to get promoted rather than just plod along in mid table.

Hughton sets his teams up very well, builds from the back and gets them doing the basics right. Nothing exciting but it gets results in the long term. We can only dream of that. TM is trying to get us to play champagne football on quicksand. It’s bonkers

Gallagher off Dack on.  Move Elliot wide.

Blackburn Fans Comments 2nd Half......

He was calling Mowbray a clown for his treatment of BB.  Get off Breo's back would you.  Half-decent?  He was one of our best performers earlier in the season.  Some of you are willing the guy to fail to justify your initial criticisms and issues with his fee.

Calm down. He can't see my posts.

He is a waste of £7m though. Sorry that upsets you.

Commentary is Radio Nottingham. Professional.

They’ve been good to be fair I have the opposition on usually to get away from the idiots we have

Elliott's passing has been absolutely dreadful today.

This keeps coming about Brereton and it was a big lump up front for him. Presumably to get away from too many add ons and sell ons.

Around 5 mill i believe rising to nearly 7 over his contract so most of that will probably have been paid up now. He's improved but it was still shockingly bad business given what the team needed.

Taylor will give them more pace; but I was hoping for a 2nd yellow from Murray

1-0 down and Tony's sat down and emptying his pockets.

Maybe he's looking for his sanity.

Excellent.  Gone full midget mode now.  Watch the crosses fly in now.

He's hoping our shortarse players can run through the middle of the Forest players legs.

Stupid sub.. Brereton has had a lively game and should have been kept on for longer. Should've subbed Elliott instead.

Better but too late, he needs to get it right from kick off not with 25 mins to go.

Nyambe has been given a secret note. I'm expecting a goal now

Haha, Hughton knows which full back to nullify!

Embarrassing from Dack

PENALTY!

Wow a lifeline

Bloody hell, the secret note actually worked.

FFS!!

Haha, penalty saved. Bloody hell Armstrong that was weak.

I give up

good save

Terrible penalty

there's Tony's excuse this week,if only the pen went in we would have gone on to win.

VAR, re-take, well off his line, usual awful ref.

Dacks finished

Absolutely done, can’t run.

Think Dolan has touched it twice since coming on.  Dack way off the pace which saddens me as I'm very fond of him.

My better half just showed me an article from the Daily Mail online whereby that brain dead bimbo of a fiancee of his was whinging about their wedding being on hold due to Covid and how they were thinking about postponing it because they were missing "the build up".

Also said that if she every broke up with Dack she couldn't go out with anyone else in the public eye.

That can't help. How can you concentrate on your work with that circus going on?

As one comment below the article said " sausages for lips and the personality of a turnip".

Well ladies and gentleman, here at Venky's Rovers we hope you're all playing Tony Tombola Bingo at home. A reminder that so far we have had...

Gally playing on the wing - Put a cross in that box

No goals in the first half - Check

Random little fella played up front (Elliot) against their big opposition centre halves - Check

Underperforming loanees kept on in favour of our own young player, sacrificed despite having a good game (Ben) - Check

Concede in the first half like usual - Check.

Something needed to whine about and blame in post-match interviews, like a missed penalty - We have a line of Tony Specials!

----

For a full house and to shout out "BINGO!" all we're waiting for is...

- All remaining subs thrown on with ten minutes to go, to hope like hell something works

and

-Nyambe hooked for a non-right back, probably a midfielder whose name begins with B...Bennett or Buckley.

-  Perhaps a scrappy undeserved goal to prolong the current Death Spiral.

----

It really is Groundhog Day following Rovers under Mowbray, isn't it?

Tbh at this point I feel really harsh giving any particular players too much criticism because I don't thing any of them would be as bad if we had someone in charge who could actually play with a coherent plan.

The constant changing of personnel (which is done regardless of injuries before that's used as an excuse) means no partnerships can be built and no real momentum can either.

Time for a new man. Cheerio Tony, and take Venus and Waggott with you.

Bell's got concrete in his boots

This will end 2-0.

Bennett on.

”Forest will be delighted with that” - Warren Lucy

Nuff said.

Tonys speech to the team after the match 'Dont worry lads weve lost 4 in a row, playoffs are now impossible, relegation is now in play but at least we won the possession stats again.'

I hope this boring wanker walks tonight

For the love of God man, GO, and take Big Steve and Mark Venus with you

Fourth lost in a row, to teams all below us on the table.  terrible

Their keeper should be off for this time wasting. Should have picked up a yellow card when he cleaned out Nyambe and one for this blatant time wasting.

Yes, I'm bitter.

An absolute f*****g abject f*****g performance, arranged by a manager who has outstayed his welcome,

Bar a brilliant individual effort from Nyambe to win the penalty, did we do anything after Brereton went off?  Dolan was absolutely anonymous.  Dack subbed to play out of position, far too early in the game as well.  Rothwell coming on would have made more sense, get some drive into the centre of midfield.  Then put Dack on later but in his natural position!

Venkys wake up. Get on the phone and sack Mowbray now.

It’s strange isnt it, I always look to Mowbray as to what you can achieve by keeping your manager and stability for a few years, he took them up and has achieved year on year improvement on a relatively small budget. On top of which he plays youngsters and a quick passing game, every one of these things many people have been crying out for at Forest.

Yet this lot want him out and seem to be pretty jealous of us? Football fans eh.

i agree totally, Blackburn are a good side, and have some very good players, i don't think Mowbray has done much wrong, I guess these days all managers are 5 losses away from the sack, but even after todays loss they are still in a good place and seems pretty good footballing foundations, 1 of their forwards looks very, very good, they got stung with BB though, he played ok but not £7million dollar man

Blackburn The Aftermath......

Another 3 points on Mowbray's possession board. Looking really comfortable for him now up there.

The reporter on Final score said Rovers were poor, Forest deserved to win, an unbiased opinion.

We're on a journey alright, trouble is not all journeys go to a good place. I took a journey once. Destination - Slough.

Very even game I thought today. Draw would have been a reasonable result based on the balance of play. But only really because Forest looked as poor as us. To progress when a team play as poorly as Forest did today we have to beat them, not lose against them in a marginal game....

Wonder what the tolerence is. Lost four on the spin, significantly behind where we were last season on the table. Surely about time they will pull the trigger? Maybe one loss.

So depressed tonight.

Won a bundle on Forest win but no solace.

Think we are in a real mess.  Other than insolvency, I don't know where the feck we are heading.

Gallagher suspected punctured lung apparently. Hope the lads ok.

i think mrs mowbray is the key to tony resigning,it can`t be much fun for her having the dour **** at home every sunday and monday claiming everyone in east lancashire does`nt understand the journey

A victory to Forest would have made the case more definitively to Venkys that his time is up than a 1-0 defeat with Armstrong missing a penalty. Only if we get stuffed would Venkys have to notice.

FROM BBC SPORTS

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray: "It was more like the way we want to play after a frustrating last few games.

"We looked like the team we've been for most of the season and we feel a bit hard done by not getting anything from the game. It just seems to be the way it's going for us at the moment.

"We needed to raise the levels after the last few games and I felt we did that. It was similar to the QPR game when we were also pretty dominant and yet lost 1-0.

"But I've told the players we will win football matches with those sort of performance levels. We have to play with that urgency and with a front-foot attitude. We had the chance with the penalty kick and I felt we'd have gone on to win it if we'd have scored."

I've just watched the last 30 mins on fbook and jeez I thought I was watching a different match,we played very well I thought Davenport was outstanding and I was really pleased to see Dack running around and looking fitter.Im not a fan of all these subs and we ended up playing 6 or 7mins with 10 men.Elliot looked good wanting the ball, the two loaners at the back looked decent, and the keeper should have been sent off for the pen,did not go for the ball and took Nayambe who will be out with a hamstring. Was pleasently pleased.

I switched back to Rovers commentary at FT.

Hells Bells! Does that Warren only look at one side of the pitch?

We didn't deserve anything from that game.
Even if you include our penalty miss in it.

Forest missed some shockers and should have been out of sight before then.

Interesting someone pointed out all the subs don't help them. Some vindication for CH's sub strategy perhaos
Reply
Aye. Hughton's subs make more and more sense to me. eg. Bringing on Blackett to fortify the win.

And fair comment about Forest ie. Should have been 'out of sight.'
