Current Players Thread
I’m still so pissed Aina played injured in the afcon final and now nearly 5 weeks later we still haven’t been able to use him.

I’m not saying anything bad about our recruitment of African players, but the decision to have afcon in the winter seriously f****d up the momentum we were getting under nuno after he came in.

Yep, that's one thing we can criticise the club for, buying African players. Its a factor in the derailment of this season. Does no one within think of these things? Its probably why we were able to get Sanagare. No other club would sanction the signing of a £35m player who was to disappear for 5 weeks.

I dont think that's the only reason no other club wanted to pay £35m for Sangare...

It's a reasonable point. Luton got a better 6 for free

Neither did we but the coach wanted his number six and Sangare was his priority and EM backed his manager like he always does. Such a bad man.

I think Sangare will come good- you don’t just become a bad player overnight. He is acclimatising to the most dynamic league in the world, to me he just doesn’t look quite fit enough to have the impact that he probably thinks he should to dominate the game

We all hope you're right but at present we're in a battle and you wouldn't want to go into it with this guy

Of course, it was Coopers fault, should've known!

You say this line a lot.

Fact. Last season we had 20% possession in most games. To improve as per our owners demands we needed a midfielder who could hold the ball and bring it out of defence ie a No6.

Assuming the previous manager wasn’t a massive fan of PSV Eindhoven, then Sangare was the preferred target of the entire recruitment team, including Wilson, Syrianos, Mendes, EM, Miltos scouting team, everyone else. You dont blow £35m just because one bloke says so.

Therefore he should have been thoroughly scouted, looked into his character, is he a leader, does he switch off when not in possession, is he the type of player we needed. Then the fee is negotiated by the club hierarchy not the head coach. If you want to lay blame there are many people involved.

Twisting my post again.

You didnt touch SM post as you know it makes sense. Jonjo Shelvey was the ideal signing, its just a shame he had a brain fart vs Villa iirc.

After this we identified that we needed a 6 but after Shelvey didnt work out we wanted to go big, marquee - Sangare believed we were a stepping stone to a top 6 side.
