They are booing it though for the reason I mentioned. People want to keep politics out of football, I am sure they are not booing it for any other reason. Just for the record there are also many black players who don't agree with it and who are fed up with it too.

Completely agree Sniff. It’s become a hollow ritual with political connotations which has out stayed it’s welcome.

So what would you prefer to replace it?

Personally I don't think we need to replace it with anything. EVERY life matters whether it's black, white, fat, thin, young, old. Just my opinion of course.

No offence here sniff but this post is terrible. Of course every life matters but, at this present time, if is black lives that are being made more difficult, more challenging and ruined by the actions of more than just a few. This is a world wide issue and not a football issue or a uk issue. However, football plays a huge role in the lives of many people around the globe... it is the perfect platform to make a stand against racism regardless of politics. 

An analogy I give the pupils I teach when they start spurting the every or all lives matter crap...

... if your house is on fire you ring the fire brigade. You expect them to come to your house as that is the one on fire and your lives are in need. To suggest that all lives matter is the equivalent of that fire engine stopping at every other house on your street to check on those people before attending the issue... by this point it’s too late.

The Black Lives Matter movement is important world wide but it alone is not enough. In order to bring equality to all we need to exhaust all available options. Politics, sport, music and film. All can and should play a part. It’s hard to believe that in 2021 people are suffering due to racism.

To suggest we don’t need anything to replace it would be suggesting that there is no issue and we can just forget about it all.

I was looking at it just from a football perspective and when I said that we don't need to replace it with anything I meant before the start of a football match. You took it to a whole new and different level. I am talking football not politics although I realise that the two don't go hand in hand which is kind of my point really. Just my opinion and I am not commenting on it again because I can see where some want to take it which is not my intention so like I said I'm out before someone paints me with the wrong brush.

Excellent post Uwantlee, you are correct All lives matter just doesn't cut it, if anyone doubts that I suggest they speak to someone of a younger generation who will understand.
I get people dont like BLM as it is political but football has had the kick it Out campaign for years which has and is doing very good work but hasn’t had the same level of media attention. Im not sure what the answer is to be honest, if they stop taking a knee now does it look like the few idiots who have booed it have won? Maybe best to carry on until the get bored of booing. Maybe there should be some other sort of gesture of support that football makes its own.

Football fans do not want to see any politics involved with the sport....At the minute football is going down the same route as the Labour Party in completely alienating its working class routes.

If and when we’re allowed back into stadiums any time soon and they carry on with this taking the knee farce I’ll be booing loud and proud until it’s gone for good...how ever long that takes.

Since when has fighting racism been political.  It should be about common decency.  You booing this makes you look like an utter tosser.  Why don't you respect the fact that this exists and maybe black and asian footballers (who get a lot of online abuse) don't really want to deal with it anymore and are making a stand.  Until the attitude towards minorities changes then long may it continue.  I live in America but I am from Kegworth and couldn't be whiter.  I totally understand that racism exists and that the keyboard warriors who perpetuate this abuse online should be prosecuted. Black people in western countries (not Africa) live on average 7 to 15 years shorter than the white population due to societal racism and general casual racist attitudes.  Footballers have feelings too.  Yes they are privileged because they get to play the sport they love and are rewarded for it but they are brave to the point that they are standing up for people who don't feel that they have a voice.  This is not political at all.  It should be about being fcuking human towards other people who aren't like you.  As the saying goes...  No lives matter until black lives matter...  If you have a problem with that then maybe the problem is you.

I think you’re completely missing the point, why don’t you do your research of what the BLM actually stand for. Or is the abolishment of the police amongst other things an adequate manifesto???

If millionaire footballers have the right to express themselves then so do ordinary working class football fans regardless of colour and race!

Sorry mate and perhaps we can take this to a different thread if needs be but I think this is pretty important. Also, this is going to affect us directly in the first game of the season when certain fans attempt to boo players taking the knee so it's worth being ready for this. I know it might cause people to get emotional and say things they may later regret but given this is a forum, this actually feels like an ideal place to discuss this before next season.

So GreenMan, forgetting the fact the players have repeatedly said they do not represent BLM, would you accept a different gesture? Perhaps they could all wear t shirts that they reveal pre kick off for 15 seconds (might get a bit weird)? Or a pre game chant they the whole stadium did? 

Whilst I wholly disagree with the idea of booing it, it feels like it's creating contention where there doesn't need to be. So perhaps a different gesture would be the answer, that was not linked to any political movement. Would that suffice?

These discussions never end well and normally end with one or more people leaving the forum. I don't want that, I work hard to make this forum what it is and I hate it when people choose to leave. It's obvious that we can't talk about football, Forest and Politics in the same sentence. Please can we just let it go?
