Fair comment GreenMan and everyone should be allowed to be heard.
Lets see how it pans out in the first few weeks of next season.

I wouldn't swap M o N & R K for anyone absolute perfect fit
News flash … We have a defence and plenty of good squad players
Need 3 or 4 additions not 20 or 30, maybe £10m , £20m would be more than enough
GET IT ON … T REX 1971 same year M O N scored on his debut for Forest
I’m sorry PSP but your continual digs at fans such as me who are a little bit apprehensive but have supported the club through thick and very thin over many years are really starting to grate on me. I love this club and hope to goodness MON works out. But to disrespect fans who have a different perspective to yourself in such an insulting way is downright insulting in my opinion, and I’m really sorry to say that to a fellow Forest fan
How does someone with no optimism become optimistic?
I would say that those with absolutely no optimism, the out and out doom and gloom merchant is more likely to make digs tinged with disrespect for a Forest all time great which to the optimist isn't really what they visit a forum for.
Is it possible for an optimist to make a dig? I don't think so. If a non optimist forms an opinion should it be challenged?
I understand the pessimist, I was full on pessimistic about Karanka, though as I tried to make it clear it wasn't personal, just he personified a lot of things that I don't like about the modern game ie revolving door, shite on the academy, too many oldies, too many loans, no personality to really put NFFC out there, short termism. I was pessimistic to the point of being a Judas, I had more in common with a filth from down the road. I guess we form complex expectations of what we want our club to be or personify.
The only difference I have with you, is that there is a fountain of theory that says a Forest legend shouldn't be a manager … ever. I think a Forest legend should be the first port of call every time. I really enjoyed Stuart Pearce being here and I really enjoy M o N and R K being here, it is about as good as it will get for me, even if they lost every game for the next 2 seasons I would stand by those. The manager at Forest is usually the guy isolated and alone on the touchline with no options on the bench, the cold light of day, bottom line is if they are giving there all which men with there sort of integrity do, that is good enough for me.
Martin O'Neil was here before Cloughie went on the most phenomonal journey in football history, one of few with total Forest integrity running through his veins. If anything he is a victim of his own success. An overachiever. A promotion with Leicester, 3 Wembley finals, 2 wins. Consecutive top 6 Villa for around 4 seasons. You can't over achieve and play champagne football every week against teams that have better players. If Forest fans want to just enjoy goals on a Saturday I understand it, but the real power of football is about achieving things which often is means overwhelming odds against. Virtually no manager alive can rival M o N's collective achievements .. against overwhelming odds ie against better teams or really from virtually any perspective and he is one of our own, this means more than all the rest, he played for us when we were shitter than we are now and played and won on the biggest stages in Europe with us.
My advice to anyone with no optimisim … find a new hobby, those who want to make digs at what we have now … expect it to come back at you, this is what has to happen for a forum to be healthy. If an optimist is accused of making digs it isn't actually true, it is because those who have fallen away and have lost respect and are being called out. If someone makes a cheap derogatory shot, that joke will come back at them and make them cry, is this a dig? I'd call it justice..

I enjoyed reading your romantic defence of Martin O Neill, Reds Legend.
A love letter of sheer bloody poetry.
You had me at hello.

SA. thank you, took 4 hours and 3 rewrites
i don't really relate to anyone anymore, i just think of my dad and others who are no longer with us who might of been offended by some of the disrespect and apathy
the real discussion is what do we, you, me, anyone really support, what brings colours, images, places and a game to create real passion and love of life, i think for me it is trying to go back in time, to relive times we took for granted when they were happening, i was too young really, still playing with my action man, i missed most of it, just the odd game, and even then spent the whole time gazing at the crowds, never seen so many people and so much noise, many no longer with us, an era long gone?

PSP when did I say a legend shouldn’t be a manager. No one wanted SP to work out more than me. I would love it ifMON and RK work out. It would give me great pleasure to eat humble pie. But to totally disrespect fans who have given years of time and money and who love the club but maybe have a different opinion is plain daft. I don’t want another ‘hobby’ I will be sat in my seat long after MON has gone. Just answer me this, if MON loves the club so much why the hell did he not take the job years ago when we so desperately needed him. I like him very much but let’s not make out he is some sort of Forest icon who loves the club. SP yes, MON is someone who played for us a long time ago, yes he was great and yes he was a part of our history but if he really loved the club he would have taken this job long before now. And I’m sure my dad, my grandad and my great grandad who all supported the club would think the same!

A champagne football win, followed by a resolute counter attacking win rounded off with a dull but effective 1-0 win have made me disproportionately optimistic.
Three very different games. 9 points, no goals conceded. I feel like the dross we have witnessed was a necessary evil ready for next year's promotion charge.

We've just win 3 games in a row, conceding 0 goals?
Is that not good enough?

It is only good enough if it has allowed him to formulate a plan for next season that can be implemented. The real hard work starts now.

Certainly good enough for me.
Some will always hate MON unless we win every game 5-0 playing champagne football.

My thoughts exactly.
What’s wrong with feeling apprehensive, I’m just not part of the love fest there seems to be on here. I want him to succeed as much as anyone, it’s my love for the club which makes me go to matches not certain managers or players (well since BC and SP anyway)
Let’s see what happens in the close season and first half of the season. Let’s face it if we’re not in the playoffs by Christmas he won’t be here, time will tell.

I think owners/chairman/boards/fans need to get away from ‘top 6’ by Xmas as you can see villa weren’t, obviously they changed manager start of October (where for a good chunk of the time before they had been in the top 6) it just puts too much pressure on the team it should be about building consistency get wins at home and not losing away!

Sorry, thought you said it, or beleieved it. Nothing wrong at all about being apprehensive. Nothing says M o N is guaranteed to succeed.
Regarding 'totally disrespect fans', is that what I do? Maybe make life a bit difficult for 'fans' who blatantly insult M o N. I think he is totally committed more than any other potential manager and has more experience and knowledge than anyone else out there.
My preference this time last year was for Nathan Jones and Paul Hart, but loyalty is what I look for and I think Nathan JOnes didn't need to leave Luton mid season, seems very unprofessional to me, maybe a career suicide attempt.
Some or maybe all the arguments this time last year were about ramping the revolving door upto full speed and focus on extreme shortermism.
It still is extreme shortermism now and M o N and R K have bought in. I personally believe that M o N is totally dedicated beyond comprehension to NFFC. He had an unfinished project at Wycombe and I think he was loyal, settled, comfortable and succeeding. We can't say that about being here at NFFC because he hasn't really been accepted and probably hasn't unpacked all his things in his office … I think M o N is ahead of the game, farsighted wisdom. For every loyal fan there are 10 that would turn on him and abuse him on the internet or in the pub.
M o N is the same except much older and much wiser and passionate but the modern fan is different.
I think we are where we are and have been where we are and have been lower than where we are … our progress is hindered. Hopefully Marinakis is more astute than Fazzock.
Just to make it clear, I have no issue with apprehension, that is probably 90% of my make up and it increases on match days. I have an issue with 'fans' who abuse, belittle, disrespect and insult M o N, yes he didn't drop everything to come here in 1993 but he stuck out something he was committed to. I think he has complete integrity in that it isn't about how much the pay is or how long the contract is, the primary question for M o N was can I make a success of this?
Anyway Redgirl, here is a peace offering, genuine, great song and the video has subtle Forest related content, collectively hope it cheers everyone up … I think it will make everyone laugh, or maybe it is just my sad sense of humour …
