Lewis is going to be a hard man to replace and on his performances since Cooper has come in he deserves another year that offers performance based incentives that if he meets will trigger a second year on top. 

Needs to be a reduced wage though. He cannot demand the same money he got when he arrived.

Could not agree more. He has been as good as almost anyone in the division - and better than most.

If all the balls were in our court so to speak, I'd definitely offer him a year on decent money, with a years option based on appearances/goals.

However, as it stands there is every chance he will notch 20 goals for the season for 3rd time in 5 seasons. His next move will most likely be a purely financial/ life decision. A move to MLS or even Qatar may appeal with potentially lucrative 2 year contract.

The 29k a week is almost irrelevant as if we sign 2-3 CFs on 10-25k each  it is a gamble and very unlikely to be as good as Grabban currently is. Davies and Taylor will probably be on a combined wage close to 30k.  Not sure they have 20 goals a season between them.

For a 1.6 million contract we get as close as you can (injury permitting) to 15-20 goals guaranteed with quality all round play. He looks as fit as ever be mad to lose him. Amazed anyone would want to see a guy who is playing as well as ever, is likely to have 60 goals in a red shirt by the end of the season  walk out the door for nothing, just because he's turned 34. Or am I being dumb,?

Could not agree more mate, on current form it would be dumb of us to let him walk out the door. Really hard to replace. He is influencing games and the team to a highhigh standard. We are a completely different team when he is on the pitch.

We'll have to replace him at some point (and Lyle) with a couple of strikers.

Very happy for Grabbs to at least have another year though, a model pro. Just depends whether he would accept a reduced role and wages.

At some point we're going to let him go.  But not until we have replacements lined up.

But it would be prudent to have a couple of strikers in that can do what he does.  It's all on him (and has been) for years now.  4 years?

How have Forest not recruiting quality strikers to push him in all that time?

I thought his 20 was his Swan Song.  But following last year's injury hit season, he's on 11 and counting, breezing past DJ with a casual ease.

We've had some pretty good strikers in last 4 years- when at other clubs!! Plus I rated that Ansaraf (can't remember name exactly) who scored at QPR  but none has been able to dislodge Grabbs or do enough to partner him.
Mir- doing alright now  but gash for us.
Taylor- looked biz for Charlton, not done it consistently for us.
Murray- 2 on debut  nothing after.
That nutter whose name escapes me we paid alot for for under Karanka.

Grabbs has seen them all off. 

Will be so tough to replace, so definitely don't want to let him go prematurely for sake of 500k next season

I think today shows why we need to keep him. Easy finish in theory but he was in the right place at the right time-again. 12 goals and counting,- need to keep him fit and sign him up.

We'll get to find out if a Cooper side without Grabban can score enough goals to win.

I guess you could say, if Forest hadn't conceded two sloppy goals today, Davis would have won it for the Reds.

Maybe the FA CUP game will be a blessing and buy Forest yet more time with Cook, Grabban, Lolley, Mighten.

Hopefully with Grabban it isn't serious and we have two weeks for him to recover for the next league game.

Or we go with Davis, keep it tight at the back and he gets the winner.
