Zinc couldn't get in Watfords team, Davies couldn't get in Villas team, Garner couldn't get In Man Utd's team, Spence can't get in Spurs team. Am I missing something here?
I think cohesion and tactics would have made Garner, Spence and Davies more valuable.
MGW and Lingard better than Zinc but the other three would have strengthened the XI

Regarding Spence I won't mention any names but someone f****d up big time because we could have had a permanent buy clause inserted for 2M but for some reason we didn't take it up.
How many games would Davies have played so far this season? He spent all of the close season injured, I like him but he's a biscuit and his injury history backs that up.
Zinc, Davies, Garner and Spence all played there part last season against Championship opposition but that means nothing in the PL.
They were all part of some dire performances like Luton, Cardiff, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth too.
If we had sold Johnson and Worrall everyone would be saying fancy selling Johnson and Worrall they would have been great in the PL.

You may be right Sniff but that's where the hindsight comes in handy. We could've been shite without wasting the amount of money we have on this lot of players we have now. But there would have been a kindred spirit there amongst them which all the prem experts say is an important factor in being a 'team'. That may have made a difference between their results and this lot's.
Re Davis, he's played in eight games so far this season. They've been bedding him in so far up to the point where he played 87 minutes of his last game. He's scored 3 goals. So you're right, he might not have spent much time on the pitch for us early season but he would've been available around this time and we're desperately in need of a player with his attributes. I reckon Awoniyi was sold to Cooper as a Keinan Davis type but who can score goals. He's nothing of the sort, he's more Lyle Taylor but without the goal threat.
And also, you mention Johnson, if we had've sold him to Brentford last January, would he have played every minute of every game for them despite not looking remotely up to the required standard? No he would not, he'd be being used as an impact sub and introduced gradually. Cooper's going to ruin that poor lad if he keeps playing him and Match of the Day keep rinsing him every saturday night.

I haven't given up on this bunch of player's yet I still think there are some good signings in amongst them.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our style of play. We’re constantly being overrun and we’re sitting incredibly deep and giving away stupid free kicks on the edge of the box, or letting opponents shoot from 20 yards out without pressure. It’ll never happen, but I’d like to see a “Red Bull” style approach, as used by a few clubs in Germany.
Use quick players and pressure the opposition high up the pitch to start counter attacks. Possession isn’t important, but winning the ball back quickly and being direct is the aim. It doesn’t rely on build up or possession, so we could make the most of our quick and energetic players. Much like our side last year. Normally a 442 with high, attacking wingers is used and it’s definitely an entertaining style. Something like the below would be interesting (though it’ll never happen and probably wouldn’t work outside of my imagination).
Hendo
Williams Worrall Niakhate Lodi
Mangala. O’Brien
Lingard. MGW
Johnson. Awoniyi

How would that work?
Spence, Garner, Davies, Zinc etc wouldn't have been free and you can't have a load of loans in the PL like you can in the Championship.

Don't get this ex players craving
Villa, seriously lacking goals.. and a striker.. didn't rate Davis and sent him out
Garner... sold to Everton, not getting game time,
Zinch, sold to oly, now in Belgian league
Spence. Not getting game time
If they were all good enough for the prem then surely they would be playing in it.. Maybe one of the reasons they were not signed I because there good enough as well?

Plus we would still have to have added more squad depth so the 150M (isn't it more like 120M?) would still have been spent.

I really don’t see where the next point is coming from. It seems we used all of our luck last season.
We really have to dig deep and drag at least a point from this, SC has somehow got to pull the rabbit out of the hat.
I feel for him, he must be mentally exhausted. I don’t think EM will give him much longer. I really hope he can turn things around starting tonight.
