Perhaps, whatever he wanted in the contract the club weren't willing to offer so he's betting on himself being successful this year and the club therefore matching that demand later down the line? He wouldn't be the first person to do this in sports.
Thats probably it Wassy. And accordingly I reckon the offer will have been withdrawn, so there's no actual contract to sign atm.

If its not a problem for SC then it should not be a problem for us! If he wants to be here he will stay and if he conversely wants to leave that will be the case, the powers that be will ultimately determine what is best for the club and not an individual employee. Now on to Monday and stick it up the bin dippers!!!!!

It's not a problem for us or me personally it's just something for us to discuss.
I find it interesting and intriguing.

Very interesting and it shouldn't be a taboo subject.

Kind of like the owner saying "the manager has my full support" and then a week later sacking him.
People forget this is all a media circus...........Cooper is saying its not a problem to shut fans/players up and keep them calm. What else is he expected to say ?

This is my personal view but perhaps Steve Cooper is being a decent human being and waiting to sign a new contract to see what happens with the team. In that I mean if the team continues to play shite then he'll be off and I think he knows that and also because he hasn't got long left on his contract it wouldn't cost a lot to get rid of him but if he signed a new 2/3/4 year contract it would cost alot more to sack him. So I'm just throwing that out there especially as he knows the boss man has spent a small fortune on the team and got Coopers main target.

If he's still at the club, I think Cooper will sign a contract if he doesn't get the England job.

So Cooper wouldn't be in contention to become England manager if Southgate goes after the World Cup?
